We had very mixed feelings after we put East-Tec Eraser 2009 to the test. While it provided us with stellar removal of unwanted files and browsing traces, it failed to provide us with its findings before it erased them, and a glitch caused the program to freeze up on several occasions.
The user interface is pretty self-explanatory. The sleek command buttons on the left side of the interface let you choose the cleaning options you'd like to employ. But from the get-go, the program would freeze up on us and become unresponsive at various times. Eventually, it would return to normal, but it was annoying nonetheless. Using the Privacy Guard feature, the program performed a basic scan of our computer and, considering the task at hand, quickly found and wiped unwanted files and browsing traces from our computer. The problem was that it failed to provide us with a list of the found files before it started to wipe them. We had no choice in the matter, which made us a little nervous. The program includes a schedule feature that allows you to schedule specific scans of your computer.
We would have liked to have seen a longer trial period than 15 days, but overall, because of our issues with the program, we suggest that you proceed with caution when trying out East-Tec Eraser 2009.

"This App "Does exactly what it says on the tin!!""
Pros: I can feel absolutely safe knowing that all invoices and finacial records are destroyed using East-Tec Eraser 2009. The disc wipe is a great advantage when disposing of old hard drives and computers
Cons: The annoying "Risk Monitor" warnings everytime I log-on. I know when I need to erase data and do not need this little icon.
Summary: I have used this product since 2006 and found it to be an excellent application for destroying data such as financial dealings, invoices, personal e-mails and surfing traces. I have used the "Wipe entire drives" with great effect when changing hard ... read more >>
