Good backup utilities that combine maximum user friendliness with excellent functionality and some helpful extras take the chore out of an essential duty. When all that comes for free, the excuse to blow off backups wears thin. Easeus Todo Backup is just such a free backup and restore utility. Like any good backup tool, it will back up your entire system's current state, data, settings and all, or just what you want it to, including partitions or full disks, and restore your computer in the event of a hard-disk crash or other calamity. Its Disk Cloning feature will help you migrate your operating system and data to a new hard disk when it's time to replace the old one. You can also use it to create bootable CD-ROMs using either Linux or the powerful Windows Pre-installation Environment (PE), which is a big improvement over MS-DOS.
Two things set Todo Backup apart from many other backup utilities (three things, if you count that it's free): its easy-to-use interface and its wizard-based operation. Colorful, large, clearly labeled buttons and icons make it easy for even new computer owners to use, a big plus because they need protection the most yet are usually inexperienced at securing it. The program walks users through its operations and explains each step with detailed instructions, augmented by a good Help file for further assistance.
Todo Backup is freeware and is certified for Windows 7. It downloads as a compressed file but extracts, installs, and opens without fuss.

"There are caveats"

Pros
Can make both file backup and disk image and store them on the network. Can mount a backup volume, wipe disk and has a rescue disk. Supports sector-level backup and SCSI disks.
Cons
Rescue disk is too weak. It cannot access network and cannot perform backup. (Both are critical in disaster recovery.)
Summary
It is definitely an upgrade over Windows 7's abominable backup tool but file backup is the only thing that makes this solution stand out amongst it free competitors such as the free tools from Macrium and Paragon (featured on the website). Fortunately, the product is very reliable; it seems to be able to do what it advertises to do, although it does not do much. Therefore, the competition ground between this product and Comodo Backup, another free tool, is even: Comodo Backup has more features but is quirky and clunky. Finally, there is Acronis True Image 2010 OEM edition which several hard disk producers like Western Digital have made available free of charge. The latter completely outmatches this product.
Commercial products, however, have no trouble outmatching the product. Features like non-stop backup, backup to a secure partition, strong encryption, VHD support, sandboxing support, NAS support, restoring backup to a dissimilar system and compatibility with Windows 8 boot process is only found in commercial backup tools. -

If you click the wrong place in full backup, the auto fill for destination drive
could back you up to the C: drive. Some people learn better by seeing it done.
A picture walk through would get there destination on there external hard drive. It's sad to try to restore, only to find your backup was on C: and that is corrupted. -

Couldn't find my network backup drive. I was able to set it up to backup to the drive but when the backup was running it failed saying it couldn't backup to the drive

No one, some comment about what someones see as Cons :
1- Not real Cons just a Pros remark : As others users have noticed there is no no incremental backup, but in my mind it is normal. There is "only" in the free version a replacement of old backup and a management of historical events.
Nobody can obtain all for free.
The incremental functions are available in the paying version.
2- Don't understand pb of missing files at recovery, I never had this : probably a win7 rights problem on a system disk (same as file copy by system). Should run as "admin" ? (I always do). Could we hope from Todo backup free to manage read-write-recovery ?
3- Should need tasks File management with options particularly for failed scheduled task when not available disks (removable) are found, but this can be obviously only waited in the licensed version EaseUs Todo backup home (complex function because of risk of duplicate or crossed back-up, linked sequences of tasks, high professional function...) .Summary
I have compared several products, it is the most (farther) clean product which not makes a professional to reach hair tear.
I became an unconditional "Pros".
Naturally they can be needs of much more complex functions, they are for others products.
The home version which I use now on some computers gives the answer for most of them.
Notes :
As example, somebody have noticed the need of management of a File of failed tasks. This with options could be particularly useful for failed scheduled task when disks are are found not available (removable), but this function can be obviously only waited may be in the licensed version EaseUs Todo backup home or higher (complex function because of risk of duplicate or crossed back-up, linked sequences of tasks, they become quickly high professional functions...).

Relatively easy to use, rich functionality. When it works it works just fine. Full system backups always worked for me.
Cons
Sometimes it doesn't work. Even worse, you'll notice it only when you actually need that backup as problems aren't detected by its own "check image" tool.
Specifically incremental backup feature is broken. Sometimes it works, sometimes attempt to recover system from full+chain of incremental backups results in thoroughly broken filesystem. Mounting it doesn't work either, a lot of files aren't there.
Other than this -- usual stuff: cryptic error messages, bad documentation, occasional glitches in UI, popup windows with advertisements.Summary
Without incremental backups it's rather average software. With broken incremental backups it's poor.
