CNET Editors' review
Good backup utilities that combine maximum user friendliness with excellent functionality and some helpful extras take the chore out of an essential duty. When all that comes for free, the excuse to blow off backups wears thin. Easeus Todo Backup is just such a free backup and restore utility. Like any good backup tool, it will back up your entire system's current state, data, settings and all, or just what you want it to, including partitions or full disks, and restore your computer in the event of a hard-disk crash or other calamity. Its Disk Cloning feature will help you migrate your operating system and data to a new hard disk when it's time to replace the old one. You can also use it to create bootable CD-ROMs using either Linux or the powerful Windows Pre-installation Environment (PE), which is a big improvement over MS-DOS.
Two things set Todo Backup apart from many other backup utilities (three things, if you count that it's free): its easy-to-use interface and its wizard-based operation. Colorful, large, clearly labeled buttons and icons make it easy for even new computer owners to use, a big plus because they need protection the most yet are usually inexperienced at securing it. The program walks users through its operations and explains each step with detailed instructions, augmented by a good Help file for further assistance.
Todo Backup is freeware and is certified for Windows 7. It downloads as a compressed file but extracts, installs, and opens without fuss.

"Caused Significant Problems"
Version: Easeus Todo Backup Free 5.0
Pros
None that I can see.
Cons
All I wanted to do was clone my hard drive. I attempted this five times. Somewhere between 6 and 8 hours in, the software would freeze. Each and every time.
Now, my external drive is an expensive paperweight because Easeus Todo wiped it clean. (Yes, I know I can fix this problem. But, it's a huge hassle that wouldn't be necessary if this software worked as promised.) -
"Waste of time"
Version: Easeus Todo Backup Free 5.0
Pros
Did not work.
Cons
I finally gave up on this program and researched some others. I was hoping to avoid having to burn a disc or discs since I was temporarily hooked up via the DVD connectors (as it recommended). I found a detailed how-to video on YouTube about Macrium Reflect Free.
I gave it a shot and once it started the new hard drive also stopped appearing on 'Computer.' But, it was not writing to the old drive, so I let it keep going. Looks like it did the trick. I don't know why THIS kept writing to the wrong drive or 'losing' it.
MRF software was also faster.
It cloned my drive and it booted to it after I removed the old one.
Here's that video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWM79HCzdDA
I was glad to find such a detailed explanation and I guess I didn't have anything hooked up wrong (but, don't hold me to that).Summary
OK, I made sure to double-check the second attempt after mistakenly cloning to my external hard drive (AAAGGHHH!!!). It was supposed to be cloning to the new drive (it even identified it by Model # and name). After 4 hours I thought the progress seemed stuck.
I was getting a message that the HP Recovery 'drive' (on the original one) was getting full. For some reason it was cloning into it. It did not mess up the main part of the original drive (that partition). When I looked at "Computer" that new drive was not showing up!!!
I had initialized and formatted it. To boot up I had to disconnect that drive and after reconnecting it won't show up. I connected it a different way and had to use Disk Management again (and after each failed attempt)!
I did not touch anything after I started cloning. I had it connected the same way for Reflect Free and it worked. -

"It does not work!!!"
Version: Easeus Todo Backup Free 5.0
Pros
works as long as you don't need to re-install your windows.
Cons
Doesn't recover files after windows reinstall
Summary
I backed up a lot of files, of near enough every kind. Thought: wait what if the program doesn't work. Then recovered, the most important files. This worked, and I thought: Oh yea, this program is great. Two months later, I picked up virus on computer and needed to reinstall windows. Reinstalled, then tried to recover my files. It says after I "recovered" them that recovery was complete. Checked files, and they weren't there. Tried fifteen times, all with the same result. Looks like I need to get hold of a working back up program.

"A valuable product for any user."
Version: Easeus Todo Backup Free 5.0
Pros
Easy to use. Many useful tools.
Cons
Nothing as yet.
Summary
Backup works well. Haven't had to restore yet.
ClONE DISK works extremely well. Upgraded C: drive from 20gB to 2TB Seagate without a hitch. Online instructions reasonably clear. All programs that I have used since cloning have worked flawlessly so far. A must have product. Thank you Easeus for the fine product. -
"Cloned old 60GB SSD to new 120GB SSD, booted!"
Version: Easeus Todo Backup Free 5.0
Pros
This program is awesome. I was deciding between three programs to try. What I needed to do was clone my old 60GB G.Skill Phoenix Pro SSD with Windows 7 running on it to my new 120GB OCZ Vertex 4 SSD, and make it so it was an exact clone, except the new drive was 2x as big. I downloaded this program, installed it, ran it after connecting my new drive to an available SATA port, and used the clone feature on the program (FREE!), it cloned the drive in less than 13 minutes, I swapped the drives and it booted to Windows 7, and everything was as before on my old drive- all my old files, settings, everything. Only thing was that after being up for a minute Windows had to reboot to allow new update to take place (probably bc windows realized it was a new drive).
Cons
There are no cons.

"Backup OK System Image Useless"
Version: Easeus Todo Backup Free 5.0
Pros
The interface is not bad and it seems to do an OK job of file backups.
Cons
The system save/image just does not work. I am setting up several used laptops and I wanted to essentially clone one with a system image and restore that to the others. I hosed up several DVDs including a couple of double layer ones trying to make this work and it just doesn't. Some of the DVDs ended up emtpy, and even when I finally did get a set that looked good the emergency restore CD I had ToDo creat said the image was incomplete because when ToDo created the image it broke the image into several files and didn't seem to be able to recognize that fact.
