Version: EXPStudio Audio Editor Free 3.94a
"Many features, zoom does not work properly on large files."
Pros: It's a very complete audio editor with an extensive toolkit.
Cons: Zoom function when editing large audio files lacks functionality. I tried it with a 147 MB mp3 file. I also want to edit a 1.2 GB file. But not with this editor.

Version: EXPStudio Audio Editor Free 3.94a
"An excellent little application, great for converting audio to WAV files"
Pros: I used the program to convert some music on DAT tapes to WAV files so that I could create a CD. It is an easy program to use; I didn't even need to read the instructions. It gives you the option to use different inputs (mine was the "line" input on the back of the PC). I used a Tascam stereo mixer between the DAT player and the computer, but I guess this is not 100% necessary, just gives a bit more control. The EXP studio appearance looks a bit basic but everything is there. After you have recorded your music (or whatever else) it is represented on the screen by a stereo waveform that you can adjust if necessary, increasing or decresing the gain (amplitude), adding fade ins or outs, adding flanging or adding chorus effects cutting out or adding silence and so on. The gain bars at the bottom of the screen let you know whether the signal is overloading. I'll be using this program a lot in the coming weeks to convert old audio cassettes and LPs to CD. Although I have not yet tried it, I guess you could simply use this program as a "digital tape recorder" playing in your performance from a digital piano (using the audio output rather than the MIDI output)and recording it direct in WAV format. There is also an accurate timer. A really useful application.
Cons: It was not immediately obvious how you can control the level of the input signal but maybe this is me simply be a bit slow.
