From Runtime Software :DriveImage XML is an easy to use and reliable program for imaging and backing up partitions and logical drives. The program allows you to backup logical drives and partitions to image files, browse these images, view and extract files, restore these images to the same or a different drive, copy directly from drive to drive. Image creation uses Microsoft's Volume Shadow Services (VSS), allowing you to create safe "hot images" even from drives currently in use. Images are stored in XML files, allowing you to process them with 3rd party tools, so you'll never again be stuck with a useless backup. Restore images to drives without having to reboot. DriveImage XML also runs from a WinPE boot CD-ROM.
Version 1.02 fixes some minor bugs.

"Should come with Windows by default"
Pros: Simple to use. Efficient use of space with the "compression" option checked. Great integration with the BartPE live CD. With this it is possible to create "images" that you can later use to restore the entire operating system. For a full tutorial on how to do this, go here:

Cons: I would like the option to schedule backups to run automatically at given times. I'd also love the ability to specify the size of the "split large files" option instead of just defaulting to 656 MB. Specifically, DVD-sized chunks would be great.

"Long overdue for Windows environment"
Pros: Backed up 15 GB in under 10 min. Compressed to ~7 GB by default. Good addition to a recovery cd. ITS FREE!!!
Allows for extraction of individual files from backed up partition or disk images. ITS FREE!!!
Cons: None, couldn't be happier. What a great product.

Pros: This product is exactly what I've been looking for. It backed up my hard drive (With about 10.5gb on it) in about 45 minutes. It compressed it to 10 files totaling about 7gb. I could have burned the backup on a bunch of cd's, but two dvd's did the job. Everyone should use this great free product.

"The perfect system recovery tool"
Pros: This is very good considering that it can backup the system drive even if you are using it. Restore is a cinch also, able to restore my system (7 Gig) under 30 minutes..This is a must for all admin. makes life easier..Thanks for this wonderful FREE program !!
