Editors' Review

The beauty of Diskeeper is its simplicity. It runs in the background when your machine is idle, automatically defragging your files making manual defragmentation mostly unnecessary. But new in version 2010, Diskeeper offers what they call IntelliWrite technology to prevent fragmentation even before it begins.

You can schedule your defragmentation for times when your away from the computer or you can use the manual defragger when your system feels sluggish. But beyond basic defragmetation functions there are a number of advanced options to increase system efficiency. Use Boot Time Defragging to defrag your hard drive at start up. While it slows down your boot time, your computer should run more smoothly overall. I-FAAST defragging sequences files in conjunction with the automatic defragger. Diskeeper keeps your swap file at the front of the disk, which makes transferring information considerably faster.

Overall, the performance and functionality of Diskeeper 2010 are superior to those of similar programs, and the user interface is easy to understand. The addition of IntelliWrite for preventative optimization puts Diskeeper 2010 at the head of its class. Diskeeper is well suited to users seeking better system performance and willing to pay a bit extra for the experience.

"Looks like it does a lot, but..."

October 08, 2009  |  By blegs385521

 |  Version: Diskeeper 2009

Pros

Has anyone done any type of performance tests to measure whether this program actually improves performance more than Windows built in Defrag utility? I would becurious to see the results.

Cons

Too many options for the average home computer user. Paying a decent amount of money for an app that may not do any more than Windows does for itself.

"Love it..."

September 20, 2009  |  By Wreckaho

 |  Version: Diskeeper 2009

Pros

I have been using Diskeeper since 04 in conjunction with Cyberscrub (since version 3.5) on my computers (custom builds) and laptop. My systems and laptop have been running flawlessly (XP and Vista) for many years and they perform as good as new.

Cons

None to think of.

Summary

Degrag is quick and unnoticeable, manual defrag is very quick.
Well worth the investment.

"Bloatware, doesn't support Win 2000"

September 03, 2009  |  By cdb002

 |  Version: Diskeeper 2009

Pros

Can't say, since it didn't run

Cons

One large package even if you only want defrag, hence big download, takes forever to decompress itself, etc., only then checks the version of Windows. Unlike what the CNET site says, it then announces that it does not support Win 2000.

Summary

Bloatware, doesn't support Win 2000, older versions that might are unavailable. Don't go near it if all you want is a defragmenter.

"Best defragmenteron the market"

August 27, 2009  |  By khrbek

 |  Version: Diskeeper 2009

Pros

Easy to use, runs in the background, no overhead and great support

Cons

No manual defragmentation scheduling option

Summary

I switched to Diskeeper from Perfect Disk about 2 years ago and am glad I did. The Diskeeper product is easier to use and the results I am seeing far surpasses anything I saw with Perfect Disk. Plus, when I ran into some problems with Diskeeper, Tech Support quickly resolved my issue in a friendly manner. I can't wait to see what feature will be available in the next version of Diskeeper.

"Good and efficient but not user friendly"

August 20, 2009  |  By zhuoxiwang

 |  Version: Diskeeper 2009

Pros

I love most of the things that it can do to defrag HD including external HDs or USB devices and can manage them automatically.

Cons

Slow program activation.

Summary

I don't like their activation way by using license.dal. I bought the software with no license key but got a license.dat instad.Sometimes its difficult to activate it I can't find any direct activation of the software. Have to wait sometimes later for auto-detection of the license.dal and have to wait for verification. Its really not convenient and not user friendly. (ps: this case is not for those have a license key)

"The Best Defragment Tool"

August 19, 2009  |  By awienaz

 |  Version: Diskeeper 2009

Pros

It doesn't slow down my computer, it works silently in the background, the hard disk have been performed a lot better since.

Cons

Overwhelm by the GUI, seems a lot to learn and do.

Summary

Been using Diskeeper since 2002, I didn't find any quite parallel nor superior with what Diskeeper can do. Overall, if the HD is yours to concerned, this is the tool for you.

Wow, it's freaking me out! I never know it until today. Beside, I never care about any religion that their concern is to make money. I don't think it's "Ethical," for any religion followers to work and live for the money only. Everyone needs money, though it may hard to live without it and be happy. Let's not make our life so religiously desperate for the money to be happy.
