This program's monitoring capabilities work well, but lack a couple of proactive features we'd like to see. Initially, the program immediately goes to work following installation, and can be called out of hiding using a quick hot-key combination and password. Desktop Spy Agent captures screenshots at user-specified intervals. However, unlike similar programs, it doesn't record programs launched and keyloggers. Captured screenshots are saved in BMP or JPEG formats and can be viewed using a built-in viewer. Stealth options enable the administrator to remove the program from the Start menu and the Add/Remove Programs folder, activate password protection, and hide the program in the Registry. Unfortunately, hiding the program in the Registry didn't work in testing. Adding to our woes, once we applied password protection, we could no longer open the program's interface. In all fairness, this 21-day trial program performs its main task fairly well, but lack of comparable features may leave you wanting more.

Desktop Spy Agent is an invisible and easy-to-use PC activity monitoring tool that captures screenshots of the active application window or the entire desktop at the predefined time intervals varying from 1 second to several hours and saves the recorded images to a specified directory on the hard drive. The images can later be viewed with the built-in image viewer or any external software (Desktop Spy Agent can save screenshots either as Windows bitmaps or in the industry standard JPEG format with custom compression level).

This tiny and smart spy software can be used at home to control what the members of your family do on the PC when you are not watching. It is also a great employee monitoring and surveillance tool that can help you prevent the misuse of corporate resources and other, more serious, incidents. The customizable hot keys enable you to start and stop monitoring, display and hide the program window, view the captured images or quit the program completely.
