This isn't a comprehensive benchmarking tool, but it gives system administrators consistent numbers. Dacris Benchmark's very simple interface promotes ease-of-use, but installing it involved a couple of irritating steps. First, accepting the license agreement skips over the option to choose setup type. Second, both types fail to give users the opportunity to direct the program's installation directory.
Operating Dacris Benchmark is aided by a useful wizard, but each test is easily invoked though icons or pull-down menu commands. This tool performs the usual speed benchmarks for processor, memory, hard drive, video, optical disc, Internet, printer, and network. Most results are in simple megabytes or kilobytes per second, but the processor speed is rated using a proprietary format. That works fine if you're comparing your system against itself after an upgrade, or if you're comparing similar systems tested with the same tool. It's not a number that will make sense to others without this benchmark tool. All tests are performed quickly, and a simple report is displayed in HTML and CSV formats. The report includes plain language recommendations in addition to the usual numeric scores.
Dacris Benchmark is freeware, works well enough for occasional system benchmarking, and presents results less-experienced users would well understand. It's worth a test drive, but isn't as informative as other tools.

Version: Dacris Benchmarks 5 build 5005
"An excellent benchmarking tool!"
Pros: I needed a benchmarking tool that would allow me to obtain a total score just for Hard Drive, CPU, RAM and Network speeds, excluding graphics. This product allowed me to do exactly that using a clean and very usable interface. The only comparative tool that I have been able to find that does the same thing, but only once it has been purchased, is FutureMarks PCMark. Dacris Benchmarks is far cleaner and more usable, building in its tests internally rather than relying on extra installations.
Cons: Dacris Benchmarks includes an optimization wizard which did not detect that I was running under Vista and would have allowed me to perform 2K/XP optimizations. I did not perform them as I was uncertain of the results. Since this did nothing to reduce its effectiveness as a benchmarking tool I did not reduce my score.

Version: Dacris Benchmarks 5 build 5005
"Pretty but highly innacurate"
Pros: Pretty, easy to use with clear reports.
Cons: Extremely innacurate, especially the graphics portion.
Summary: I tried this program on a variety of systems with very different specs. The graphics results were so obviously and laughably incorrect, none of the results can be trusted.
