Novices may feel they need a PhD in discology to use DVD-lab Pro, but we think it makes producing professional-quality DVDs as easy and fun as possible. Definitely not for the casual enthusiast, it allows you to master and burn DVDs at any resolution with multiple soundtracks, subtitles, access or region tests, and sophisticated navigation menus.
The app comes with a large library of backgrounds, textures, buttons, animations, and shapes to help you on your way, but designing a menu is as easy as dragging and dropping stock elements. More hardcore users can design new components using the built-in Basic-like language. The Connections panel lets you visually arrange the components of your DVD, however sophisticated it may be. Tabs are prolific and useful in its interface, and a small screen is available for on-the-go previewing.
DVD-lab Pro supports PAL and NTSC, and includes a handful of utilities for adjusting the low-level aspects of your DVD, such as the regional code and the relationship between the audio and video streams. All this power doesn't come cheaply, though, so we recommend DVD-lab Pro only to advanced users who want to design professional-looking DVDs and know what they're doing.
Publisher's description
From Mediachance :The DVD-lab PRO version is a next step in DVD-authoring. Multiple audio, multiple subtitle support, play lists, counter and random lists, various levels of scripting even down to the virtual machine script and script debugger--yet it still keeps the clear and accessible interface.
Version 1.53 fixed MPEG with PCM file import.

Version: DVD-lab Pro 1.53
"Not easy to use but gives you the most freedom."
Pros: Has ability to create a complex structure (multiple menu, multiple layers, etc)which allows you to author a commercial-grade home-made DVD video.
Able to output to DVD-Folder with moderate speed.
Cons: Difficult to use.
Assets in many times must be demultiplexed first which requires lots of disk space.
No transcoding or pulldown option to create Long-Play or Extended-Play DVD.

"Not as nice as they make it out to be."
Pros: An ok program. Lots of different ways to make menus. The possibilites are endless.
Cons: Large learning curve. Expensive. Can be abit buggy (crashes frequently). So many options that you may find yourself never finishing a menu. Not made for someone who is looking for a "quick" way to make a nice menu. There are several other programs out there that can make really nice movies in half the time.

Version: DVD-lab Pro 1.53
"A lot of decoration but not much substance."
Pros: If it did what it claims it can do it would be terrific...If!
Cons: Too many problems. See their forum to read pages of them. Muxing and sync errors, false warnings, a lack of clarity or precision in their help pages, and inadequate support are just a few problems. And all this will set you back a couple of hundred dollars.
It's not worth it.
(But one day, if the company address the issues instead of adding even more unnecessary components, it could well be worth it.)

"Great DVD Authoring program!"
Pros: If you want to create your own DVD that includes a menu or more advanced functions, this program is the one! It lets you create a fully PRO DVD as you usual rent. If rent DVD often, stop, get this program and start creating your own.
* Beginners will learn very fast
* Advanced people and experts will be glad over the in-build script language which let you create the DVD using the script language.
* Program includes a DVD-burning program
Cons: * It converts only a few formats to the standard DVD-formats. Which means you need other programs to convert files as .avi to vob or dvd related filetypes.
