From Invelos Software :DVD Profiler can manage any size DVD collection. It is Internet connected for sharing profiles. DVD Profiler connects to the online DVD database at Invelos. Invelos maintains a constantly growing database of DVDs. Each DVD is entered by one user and shared with all users. If you find an error, you can correct it and automatically share your correction with everyone. Since the database is user-built, it will keep growing. Entry into the collection is one step. Enter the UPC from the DVD case, and DVD Profiler will retrieve the DVD profile from the online database. If you have a DVD-ROM drive, it's even easier: put the DVD in the drive and DVD Profiler asks if you would like to add it. DVD Profiler 3.0.3 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, and bug fixes.

Pros: I decided that due to my substantial DVD collection, I needed to start cataloging them properly for insurance purposes. After trying a few products, I settled on DVDProfiler. My number one reason? The data! All of the other products that I tried scraped data from other sources (IMDB, Amazon, etc.) and it was up to the user to fill in the blanks and decide which of the differing sources was more reliable for that particular purchase. DVD Profiler has the advantage that it's DVD profiles are contributed by users to a central database which all other users can access. This means that the DVD profiles have had many eyes looking at and improving the data through a voting system that helps ensure data quality.
Add onto this a wide selection of data, customizable interface, and the ability to track loaned DVDs, ordered DVDs, and maintain a wish list that can be made available to all of your friends and family, and this becomes a product that pulls you in - it's much more than just a cataloging tool to me now!
To top it all off, the one-off license fee allows you access to ALL future program updates. Compare the free version to competitive products - you'll see that it' well worth the small fee.
Cons: The only minor negative I can give is that the program's forum has a small number of very intolerant inhabitance, and this minority of people can rub very harshly if you don't accept them for what they are - a vocal minority.
