Archive unneeded DLL files with this handy utility, but you'll have to do some of the work. DLLArchive's simple interface is just a file list over a few function buttons. On install, the program loads a help page. Make sure you read it as you won't find any help after the program starts.
Configuring this application takes only a few seconds and a few clicks. However, one very helpful option is missing. You can't restrict DLLArchive to search only a particular drive. It's either all hard drives or all hard drives and all removable media. Starting a search takes only one click. On our test machines, it took about 4 minutes to find 20,000 files. Then the program spent considerable time finding which DLL files were no longer needed. With a click DLLArchive lets you archive all unneeded DLLs into a directory for safe keeping. In case you want to choose which to archive, the utility lists the filename, path, size, and date for each file. The only thing you can't see is what program originally needed the DLL.
To know what to archive you can either trust the application, or do a little homework on each file. There is no undo or restore option to return archived files to their original folder. Even though it may take your assistance, DLLArchive performs a task you can't easily accomplish with Windows. It is easy to install, and simple to operate.
Publisher's description
From AnalogX :DLL Archive is simple-to-use. Click search and let it do its thing--once done, you'll be presented with a list DLL's that don't have references in the system. Then just select which ones you think aren't necessary anymore and archive them. It's that simple. Make a mistake? No problem, restoring DLL's from the archive is just as simple--nothing is deleted until you delete it.

Version: DLL Archive 1
Pros: The product does create a list of dll files that can be removed, and it does remove them into a storage folder.
Cons: The fatal flaw is that the program does not reverse the removal once the dll files are put into its archive folder. The program says it can return the dll files to their original locations, but it doesn't. There is no way to get the files out of the dll archive and back where they may belong.
