We don't really understand the mathematical mojo that powers this nifty Winamp plug-in, but we do know it makes audio files sound crystal clear. Here's the basic explanation: DFX for Winamp uses digital-signal-processing algorithms to replace high frequencies, restore lost or diminished stereo depth, increase the perceived loudness of the audio, and add rich bass sound. The result is Internet radio and compressed audio files (such as MP3s) that sound much cleaner and richer. You won't have to dig into a mess of settings to get results, since DFX for Winamp uses only a few sliders and buttons. The full version also includes 39 presets for different kinds of music, though unfortunately, the demo lets you use only three. It also disables the 3D-surround feature, which supposedly creates a surround-sound effect from a normal two-speaker setup. Nevertheless, even the trial version of DFX for Winamp makes your MP3s sound much, much better. On top of that, it's free, and you can use it as long as you want. So what are you waiting for?Publisher's description

Version: DFX Audio Enhancer for Winamp 9.107
Pros: Have not experienced anything since it is all disabled in the try version.
Cons: You cannot test anything in the try version. It is all disabled. Whenever you try to use a feature an anoying pop up tell you to buy it.
If you want to really test it, you will need to find a working copy. Sorry...Summary: The "amazing difference" in sound is not seen anywhere unless you buy it.

"Crashes the newest version of Winamp everytime!!!"
Pros: Well it has worked great in the past and the Interface looks great...

Version: DFX Audio Enhancer for Winamp 9.107
Pros: DFX can improve virtually any audio source, period. There are other programs that work in a similar fashion but they are either confusing or inferior in my opinion.
Cons: Won't work with every player. Why not make this program play with all audio out or at least broaden the compatibility and market just one version? I guess the answer to most questions in life- money!
Summary: I have had DFX since version 6 and honestly can't claim any noticeable differences, just better bells and whistles. The presets are a joke in my experience, although you can use them as a starting point to optimize your sound.
