This utility proves to be one of the most powerful and flexible among erasers and privacy protectors. It has a handy interface: you can irrecoverably delete files using the right-click Explorer menu or by dragging them to the program window. Privacy Guard enables you to clean traces left in Windows (recently opened files, Run history), your browser (cache, cookies), and various applications such as ICQ and Windows Media Player. The most remarkable feature is that you can fully control which files and Registry keys are erased, as well as add your own items for deletion. CyberScrub uses several erasing methods, including quick wiping, NAVSO, DoD, and Gutmann, so you can find the balance between speed and security. The program also lets you create your own methods. You can define the number of cleaning passes and, for each pass, any overwriting pattern (byte or text, fixed or random); this is a rare capability for this class of software.
What's more, it's possible to shuffle the order of passes and verify the data has really been deleted. Happily, CyberScrub now offers a built-in scheduler so you can run time-consuming tasks when you're away from your computer. You can lock the program with a password so nobody can occasionally damage your files beyond recovery. CyberScrub is designed for professional use.
Publisher's description
From CyberScrub :Privacy Suite deletes all evidence of online activity (pictures, videos, history, binaries, e-mail, amd index.dat), erases files beyond recovery (exceeds US Department of Defense 5220.22), and secures your sensitive data with strong encryption. It is used by many federal agencies, the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy, and is VIA Padlock certified. The application supports IE, Netscape, Opera, AOL, Mozilla Firefox, MS Office, and most all P2P applications. It removes all traces of music downloads and newsgroups. An integrated scheduler allows the program to run "when idle" or at set times. It includes a permissions module to limit functions to users or groups.

Version: CyberScrub Privacy Suite Professional 4.5
Pros: This application does what it says. Lets face it magnetic media cannot be completely cleaned but this will ensure the guy at the local PC repair shop won't be able to view your internet tracks. It's got plenty of options, cleans lots of third party applications and support is excellent. I firmly believe those who say it does not clean just have not set it properly.
Cons: Wiping can be slow but it is thorough. Can be slow in updating third party cleaning definitions if the applications are upgraded between releases of CyberScrub.

Version: CyberScrub Privacy Suite Professional 4.5
Cons: The files you 'delete' may be gone, at least they didn't show up after a file recover scan with pc tools file recover (trialware) but the HD space they consumed is not retrieved. I didn't want re-install my pc (did that not to long ago) to regain lost space so i had to totally fill my HD space, forcing windows to clean up old files and gained back about 15Gb of so called scrubbed files.
Wasted $50 on this program.

"Gulfstream Wrong- We have tested with Encase Forensic Software"
Pros: This appears to be just another example of "anyone can post anything". This guy probably did not scramble file names. If that is the case, deleted file names may be seen but not recovered. Trust me (or try for yourself), files deleted with Privacy Suite are gone beyond recovery. Hey- Take a minute and READ THE INSTRUCTIONS.

Version: CyberScrub Privacy Suite Professional 4.5
"great product, draconian license"
Pros: Wipes the crap of my drive. I have a heavy-duty recovery program and it can't undo PS's work.
Cons: I installed it on my workstation, but then I moved to Linux. Now my license is node-locked a box that isn't even running Windows, so I'm hosed.

""Technical support" non-existent - all sales FINAL (NO refunds)"
Pros: Automation of cleaning tasks is good and seems effective
Cons: Based mainly on recommendations by a certain individual on this site, I purchased a copy of CyberScrub Privacy Suite.
Even though I purchased it over a week ago, I have not yet been able to successfully register the program (I'm on Day 12 of the 15-day trial now, according to the main program interface when I open it). Even though each time I go through these steps, it tells me that it's been "successful" in registering the program.
I've "activated" it both over the Internet from the computer that it's on and "Manually" - multiple times. With all my defensive programs turned off - or turned on - the result is the same.
I've sent three support tickets to the maker - none of which have been responded to as of this morning.
I'm at the point now where I don't really care how good the program is or is not - their technical support sucks.
If this doesn't get resolved by the time the program expires, I'll post screenshots of everything I'm talking about (including my "support" tickets). Pete
