Publisher's description of CyberScrub Privacy Suite Professional 4

From CyberScrub:

Privacy Suite deletes all evidence of online activity (pictures, videos, history, binaries, e-mail, amd index.dat), erases files beyond recovery (exceeds US Department of Defense 5220.22), and secures your sensitive data with strong encryption. It is used by many federal agencies, the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy, and is VIA Padlock certified. The application supports IE, Netscape, Opera, AOL, Mozilla Firefox, MS Office, and most all P2P applications. It removes all traces of music downloads and newsgroups. An integrated scheduler allows the program to run "when idle" or at set times. It includes a permissions module to limit functions to users or groups.

Version 4.0 sports a totally redesigned interface, and allows the user to retain Restore Points when wiping free space. Privacy Suite has been tested with Encase forensic recovery software to ensure its effectiveness. Extensive documentation is included.

Complete and easy-to-use internet security software for your PC.

  • "A good scrubbing"
  • Version reviewed: CyberScrub Privacy Suite Professional 4
This utility proves to be one of the most powerful and flexible among erasers and privacy protectors. It has a handy interface: you can irrecoverably delete files using the right-click Explorer menu or by dragging them to the program window. Privacy Guard enables you to clean traces left in Windows (recently opened files, Run history), your browser (cache, cookies), and various applications such as ICQ and Windows Media Player.

The most remarkable feature is that you can fully control which files and Registry keys are erased, as well as add your own items for deletion. CyberScrub uses several erasing methods, including quick wiping, NAVSO, DoD, and Gutmann, so you can find the balance between speed and security. The program also lets you create your own methods. You can define the number of cleaning passes and, for each pass, any overwriting pattern (byte or text, fixed or random); this is a rare capability for this class of software.

What's more, it's possible to shuffle the order of passes and verify the data has really been deleted. Happily, CyberScrub now offers a built-in scheduler so you can run time-consuming tasks when you're away from your computer. You can lock the program with a password so nobody can occasionally damage your files beyond recovery. CyberScrub is designed for professional use.

    "Same as East-Tech."

by slappybones on June 4, 2005

Pros: Seems to do the job. Forget about erasing files, use it to save space.

Cons: How do we know if this really works? How many of us have acces (sic) to Government recovery software? I dont use this for erasing software and temp. files, I just use it to wash space, which it does. But I would really like to see someone with access to N.S.A. or F.B.I. recovery software to see if it really works.

    "Cyber CRAP"

by mexnet on December 30, 2006

    Pros: It's a mystery program ...

Cons: The program will not shine the shoes of EVIDENCE ELIMINATOR or even STEGANOS SECURITy.

Moreover it is jus a rip off ... you pay for a LIFETIME program ... but then each time you need to reinstall it they tell you you must repurchase the program ... Their customer service is the rudest ever seen by me ... My advice STAY AWAY ...

"RUN AWAY, AS FAST AS YOU CAN"

    by bccs1 on August 10, 2005

Pros: Fairly easy to use, wipes a lot of Data (I Think - but who really knows).

Cons: Don't bother purchasing this software as it has a very limited Licence - Pay up to $60 for this product, install it - have a system crash - tough luck, lost program, lost money. You will have to purchase another license if you need to re-install this software. The people at Cyberscrub LLC are very UN-PROFESSIONAL and RUDE, which makes you think whether the program works or not. My Advice, look elsewhere at all costs, unless you have money to throw away!

"I should have thrown the money for this product in the sewer"

    by Gregory60455 on July 26, 2005

Pros: Appears to do superficial job of cleaning internet tracks.

Cons: I should have thrown the money for this product in the sewer. I bought it with lifetime upgrades. but 5 months later when my computer crashed and I needed to re-install the software (even though I purchase a CD at additional cost): I was told that I needed to purchase an additional license. I am extremely content with ACE Utllities, successor to that CyberScrub junk. Additionally, it tended to lock up my machine (probably why my machine crashed in the first place). I paid approximately $60 for a good education, I am sharing it with you for free. Go to ACE Utilites, or even Evidence Eliminator, but run away from CyberScrub.
