"Works as advertised: plays DVD's and Blu-Ray discs"
Version: Corel WinDVD 9 11
Pros
Very clean interface that doesn't overwhelm you with too many possibilities. It doesn't try to be the "all everything" media player that others like PowerDVD seem to do. It just works.
Cons
None for my needs.
-
"Full retail version works perfectly"
Version: Corel WinDVD 9 11
Pros
Does everything it says it will do.
Cons
Haven't found any yet.
Summary
I see a lot of people here who either don't know what they're doing, don't understand how to read, or have really bad PCs that need a windows reinstall. I'm using the full retail version and it works perfectly. It's not an editor (learn to read buddy), it's a video player that will play blu-rays. If you want a decent blu-ray player for your home theater PC, this one works great (over HDMI or DVI). By the way, if you honestly think a blu-ray will play over VGA in HD, you have a lot of reading to do. Here's a big hint. Look up HDMI and DRM. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit and having zero problems.

"Useless waste of time."
Version: Corel WinDVD 9 11
Pros
free trial
Cons
Does not support Component output for blu-ray. Only supports DVI or HDMI output for blu-rays
Summary
My graphics card outputs HD through component ( red, blue, green)
this program is USELESS TO ME! -
"Never worked and no back up service!"
Version: Corel WinDVD 9 8
Pros
Don't know as it never worked!
Cons
Corel's Win DVD 8 Never worked on my Vista computer. I paid Corel and lost my money! Corel were not interested in helping me either. I am still very angry about it. You cannot uninstall it either and it uses 84MBs even though it doesn't work!
Summary
Bad! I am still very angry with this company!

"Useless still"
Version: Corel WinDVD 9 11
Pros
none at all
Cons
I just wanted to remove the beginning & end of a home-made video. Apparently Corel WINDVD can't do this.

"Trialware plays Blu-Ray, Retail doesn't. Beware!!!"
Version: Corel WinDVD 9 11
Pros
Clean user interface
Cons
Trialware will play Blu-Ray on a standard Vga connection monitor without any problem. The retail version doesn't and comes back with an error stating it detected 'Analog Output'. Adding the SlySoft AnyDvd Hd plugin will trick it into playing blu-ray but this costs £55 and defeats the purpose. Corel support was absolutely terrible with the usual answers, 'update your patches \ drivers, have you checked the knowledgebase?', etc. Then no response after a week of badgering for an answer. In the end I brought forward my decision to purchase a new monitor with DVI output and it worked straight away. But this is still a con, trialware should reflect a timed version of the final product, not something which cons you into buying it's bigger sibling.
Summary
Once working the product does the job although I'm sure there are better applications out there. They just cost a lot more.
You must use a monitor with DVI output for it to work and make sure your installed copy is updated with the latest service pack (v7).
Corel support is rubbish and not worth the time taken to log a fault. -
"Worthless application."
Version: Corel WinDVD 9 11
Pros
None. The applocation does not work.
Cons
Computer freezes when you try to watch a DVD with Corel WinDVD. You cannot even get out of the application using the task manager. The only option is to force shut down the computer and reboot. The application simply doesn't work.
-
"Worked ONCE only"
Version: Corel WinDVD 9 11
Pros
Got version 10 to play ONE blu-ray and it worked fine, but after that it won't even work any more.
Cons
Both version WinDVD "Pro" 10 and 11 have some kind of issue and crash immediately on Splash Screen before the program even starts. Have contacted customer support. We'll see if they can offer some suggestions but I am doubtful since they haven't fixed the issue from versions 10 to 11. I can't be the ONLY one experiencing this.
Summary
I want my money back to buy a program that works. I'm slapping myself for buying two different versions of this program.

"Newer versions keep getting worse"
Version: Corel WinDVD 9 11
Pros
None at all.
Cons
Won't play, crashes and locks my computer.
Summary
There hasn't been a decent version of WinDVD since Version 9. WinDVD 2010 is fair, WinDVD 10 doesn't even work. Since Corel got this product from Intervideo is has gone downhill. Get some new programmers, please. Don't buy it. Try the free and if you like it think about buying it. But think long and hard.
