Except for one drawback, Corel VideoStudio is an outstanding video creator and editor. Its main flaw is its lack of speed. It installs slowly, it loads slowly, and it works slowly.
When it comes down to creating videos and photo slideshows, however, the program is top-notch. It even lets an amateur turn video footage into a finished film--complete with transitions, picture-in-picture, and effects--with a minimal learning curve. You can capture video from the program's interface, import HDV and AVCHD, or import video from a file, a digital camera, or a DV camcorder. The handy interface lets you create an animated title screen, assemble a film by dragging and dropping audio and video fragments, and applying transitions onto the montage line. We like the new paint feature which lets you draw or write freehand on your videos making it easy to add thought balloons or draw your travel route on a map, for example. The new picture-in-picture and montage effects add even more polish to your home video projects.
The video-editing module contains a large library of filters, effects, and tools. You can share your video online, and even burn a VCD or SVCD with the built-in burner. New end-to-end HD support also allows you to import and burn in HDV and AVCHD. Assuming you have enough patience and a great hardware setup, Corel VideoStudio should appeal to home-video enthusiasts.

Pros: It's good in terms of features and doesn't have a huge learning curve.
If you want to try it for 30 days, by all means do so. It's worth a free download. Then just get rid of it.Cons: Like the majority of reviews, it crashes a lot!

Pros: Got some great features - if you can find out how to use them!
Cons: It's not intuitive. No instruction manual (not even a PDF file). I find it confusing and frustrating to use.

"I usually like Corel ... really I do .. but common guys"
Pros: Its got a few good features worth noting if it wasn't crashing everytime I uploaded a 30 meg video file.
Cons: Where do I start ..... I don't think there is that much time in the day!
Summary: After downloading a pile of trials I am actually liked Movie Edit Pro from Magix .... better than the uber buggy Corel. I have been using Corel since Draw 3 and I was hoping for better.

"Almost useless because of constant crashes"
Pros: Many cool and useful features. The concept is good but features are not intutive and require a long learning curve.
Cons: Most disturbing is the tendency to "Not Responding". This morning it crashed 10 of 10 times. I can no longer use it successfully. Yes I uninstalled and reinstalled. I run a new Dell XPS with 6GB of memory; it's not the hardware.
Summary: Not ready for prime time because of instability.

"Unstable software: You have been warned"
Pros: Many features.
Cons: Crashes for me often, when using effects, when rendering. Success is hit and miss. Support from Corel was ineffective. Sheesh! Do they even TRY their own products? The QA department should needs new personnel.
