"It does exactly what I want it to do."

August 25, 2010  |  By CloaknDagr

 |  Version: Core Temp (64-bit) 0.99.7.7

Pros

Lightweight, easy to configure, more than sufficient options, easy to use. You can set it to run then just forget about it. I've never experienced a crash of the program and the program has never crashed the OS. It's fairly easy on system resources

Cons

There are no cons as far as I'm concerned. The author did a great job on the software.

Summary

I set this to autorun at startup, all I need to do to see my processor diode reading is glance at the system tray. That's exactly what I want it to do and it does it's job faithfully.

The ambient in the area this computer occupies is variable so it's important to know how hot the CPU is getting in order to decide to slack off on it or not. This little program in the configuration I use sets a little red set of numbers in the system tray so I can tell at a glance how hot things are getting.

There are several settings that allow you to specify a response to an over heat condition, this ia very handy feature.

It's very easy on system resources, idling at around 1-3% clock cycles on a quad 3 GHz x64 with board max RAM. In the environment the computer occupies it's well worth a couple percent hit on clock cycles just for the overheat protection.

The box it's running on has 8 internal drives (not including opticals) and 8 externals, two decent nVidia video cards, a tuner card, and an overclocked AMD Phenom x4 running a hair under 3 GHz on all four. Think about heat, lots of heat. I know I do, all the time. This little program takes some of the load off my mind and I really appreciate it. Good Job.

Oh, elekt786, if you're running Vista or 7, use the task scheduler to run it at startup, you can give it all the necessary permissions and set everything the way you want it from there.

Pros

Great to use to watch your processor's temps

Cons

Duzn't want to work if I switch my laptop over to battery power

Summary

Would be even better, if it'd run while on battery power, but not that big of an issue seeing that I keep my laptop plugged in 95% of the time anywayz.

"Does what it says it will do."

 |  Version: Core Temp (64-bit) 0.99.7.7

Pros

I wanted a program that would check the core temperatures of my machine to see that it is basically healthy. It provides that information, and some, so I'm totally satisfied.

Cons

None that I'm aware of.

Summary

As a very non-tech user, I like programs that will inform me whether my computer is working well, or not. This one is very inobtrusive, running in the background, using very little power, so it is doing what I wanted it to do, with honours.
