Google, Microsoft, and Yahoo aren't the only ones bringing more search power to consumer desktops. Copernic's Desktop Search tool makes it fast and easy to find documents, e-mails, and other files on local drives. Like other desktop search tools, it creates a searchable index of all the data on a computer's drives, and updates it every time a file is added, removed, or modified.
A left-side search column allows simple keyword queries and more refined searches based on file size, date, file type, or folder. Easy-to-read icons at the top of the screen let you limit searches by category, such as stored HTML pages, e-mail, and videos. The program is lightning-quick, displaying results as fast as you can type.
We especially like the Copernic Deskbar, a search window that appears in the Windows Taskbar and makes quick queries very handy. However, we would like an image viewer, and we wish the application's PowerPoint viewer could display graphics. Copernic comes with optional search toolbars for Internet Explorer and Firefox.
Overall, Copernic offers an efficient way to search your PC, especially for multiple or large hard drives.

Version: Copernic Desktop Search 2 build 2502
"Wait with updating to version 2"
Pros: Good desktop search program - I tried Google desktop search but Copernic is better. I had used the 1.x version and upgradet to version 2
Cons: The reason why I wrote this review: If you've still installed the 1.x version wait some time before updating to version 2. (I wrote that in October 2006.) I'm using now Version 2.01 Build 2515 and there are some performance troubes. Sometimes copernic takes 100% of the CPU for 30-60 sec. I'm sure that's a bug and not a bad search algorithm because the 1.x version was *very* fast and I won't believe that their search algo or their database schema has got worse. Just wait 2 month longer, then try it.
(The 1.x version would have got 5 stars. I recommend copernic in principle.)

"Easy way to find anything in your computer."
Pros: It supports many kinds of formats and it can search your email also. Good tool.

Pros: 2.0 build 2502 is very quick, but not accurate.
Cons: 1.7 is the best version of this program (5 stars), it is very accurate.

"Malfunzionamento di Copernic Desktop Search 2 build 2502"
Cons: La release 2 non funziona sul mio computer.
Ho dovuto ricaricare la precedente 1.7, anche se Duch, di cui non capisco nulla, ma almeno l'indicizzazione funziona bene.
Come prima di fare upgrade.
