ConfigInspector functions much like Windows' Task Manager and offers system information, but doesn't prove to be more useful than standard Windows utilities. The program mostly duplicates Task Manager's options, allowing you to terminate processes and applications and perform shutdown operations. The multitabbed interface also includes details for Windows, Machine, Display, and other PC areas, but doesn't let you modify any of the settings or information. The one exception is a Mute option in the Media tab, but this consistently failed to work in our tests. Although ConfigInspector is free of charge, it doesn't enhance or improve on the capabilities already found in Windows. Users looking for a detailed and useful system-configuration utility that does more than simply present information should continue their search and pass on this one.
