Comodo Firewall Pro provides a smorgasbord of information and options for advanced users, simple enough for beginners, and yet runs smoothly and silently in the background.
It's labeled Pro but this Comodo offers up a dragon's treasure of features for free. Running mostly hidden, Comodo rears its head most often during Security Alerts that ask about new Internet connections. Alerts contain basic outgoing connection information. The user must determine if it's safe. The connections monitor displays the Application, the Source IP and Port, the Destination IP and Port, and the number of bytes received and sent.
Overall, the features offered are not only comprehensive, but they're useful. So not only is there a Network Monitor, but it displays its rules clear enough for even the greenest security wonk to Google up the relevant terms. Whether you're in the Activity tab, the Security tab or viewing the Summary, which displays Security Monitoring, your current Security Level and useful system information such as your IP address and your MAC address, the program has been geared at all levels to help you understand where your 1's and 0's are going, and which programs are sending them.
Currently incompatible with Vista, Comodo also requires a reboot before using. Other than that, keep in mind that Comodo is freeware and it's hard to reason against using it.

Version: Comodo Firewall 2.3.5
Pros: Easy install, easy config and very secure. Surprisingly lighter on resources compared to past versions. Very good help-forum too. But...
Cons: Has issues with remembering rule-sets, so a complete re-install was recommended. Problem is it doesn't uninstall completely. Like ZoneAlarm, you have to figure out how to get past it's "shutdown-protection". Plus, the fact that it slows down boot-times convinced me to wait for product upgrade before trying again. Once they get the bugs worked out, this should be one of the better firewalls. Until then I'll stick with Filseclab!!! More stable and easier on ram!!!

"This firewall also shocked me, like a big WOW!"
Pros: It passed every ShieldsUp test! I just clicked the test thingy buttons and all are stealth mode!!! Just make sure you're using the newest one
Cons: Still doesn't support IE7 as of this version, If you're using the updated comodo and will use IE7, STAY BACK TO THE PREVIOUS IE!

Version: Comodo Firewall 2.3.5
"Impressive, usable personal firewall"
Pros: As good as some paid products (ZA PRO, Sunbelt KPF) in some ways and so far what I have seen is that is is pretty stable. I am using v2.3.6.81. Has less overhead than ZA and performs nicely. My system passed Shields UP and other scan sites. Oh, it is free. I'd select this over Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky, and Trend Micro... and I'd pay for it!
Cons: Interface takes a little getting used to. I'd like to see some of the features in Sunbelt KPF and ZA get implemented in this product, but I don't think I will have to wait too long, they have a great support forum and seem to be working on issues in the product. Something I am sure Sunbelt is not doing with KPF and ZA has issues of it's own that have been there since the earlier sub versions of 6.5.xxx.

Version: Comodo Firewall 2.3.5
"one of, if not the best free firewalls"
Pros: I like that this firewall passes all the leak test's that I tried with it, it also passed the kill test's that I tried. It is recognized by windows security centre, and now that Jetico is no longer free in version 2 this is in my view the best available free firewall. I also like the lifetime license, the firewall updated straight after installation to version 2.3.6.81. I have not experience any of the problem mentioned in some reviews with IE7.
Cons: Someone mentioned that they had a problem with uninstalling the firewall, I can't comment as I intend to keep this firewall for quite a while.
