CNET Editors' review
Suitable for both Web-design newbies and HTML hotshots, CoffeeCup 2008 introduces a new CSS and HTML autocompletion tool to join its well-known WYSIWYG and standard HTML editors.
It continues to offer powerful features melded to a straightforward and compact interface that is organized by tabs--perfect for keeping track of multiple projects. Its advanced features include HTML and CSS scripting, Flash animations, and drag-and-drop Java scripts. Beginners, meanwhile, get an excellent tutorial and a WYSIWYG editor that supports simple drag-and-drop. Heavily trafficked support forums are also available. An extensive array of samples and templates includes site designs and JavaScript-based widgets such as calendars and calculators.
You also get a complete list of tags. Inserting an image, a table, a list, or a DHTML menu is a snap. Tabbed editing lets you simultaneously change multiple pages, and a built-in FTP client facilitates one-click uploading. The status bar displays valid usage suggestions, and you even get a built-in thesaurus. Full-featured and easy to use, users who are worried about the $50 price tag should be comforted by the fact that it includes lifetime free upgrades.

"I don't know about the software but the company sucks"
Version: CoffeeCup HTML Editor 12.5
Pros
I was not able to use the software, so I can't evaluate it.
Cons
I thought I was buying a WYSIWYG tool. As soon as I paid by $35, I realized my error and asked for a refund...literally like 5 minutes later; just as soon as I downloaded and looked at the software.Mean, unfriendly, 'too bad for you' attitude, and they still kept my money. I think what really bugged me was the combination of being so darn un-customer friendly along with the 'go to hell' attitude. Their remedy for my error? They offered me more of their software. They said they were concerned that I was lying about the error; that this was just a big ruse for me to get their software for free. How incredibly insulting. Shame on me for buying software that didn't have a trial version first. (I bought the OsX version). But shame on them for treating me so badly. I made an honest mistake, and I asked them to help me out. But they were rude and unyielding.
If you buy their software, don't expect much from the company. Nasty, unhelpful people. -
"Lack of WYSIWYG Editor makes this a loser"
Version: CoffeeCup HTML Editor 12.5
Pros
If you can find a way to install an older version, it's a pretty good WYSIWYG html editor. Not bug free, but as good as I've found. Unfortuneately, this is no longer the case with the new version.
Cons
Prepare to invest lots of time learning to use the new version. I'd suggest looking for a different WYSIWYG editor instead.

"Wast of money - don't buy it!!!"
Version: CoffeeCup HTML Editor 12.5
Pros
None come to mind
Cons
If you are able to build a decent looking and functional commerce site with this software you are truly a genius. It is very difficult and awkward to use and totally dysfunctional unless you purchase both the shopping cart creator and site designer software. Once you purchase these you will find it to be the most backward and frustrating package to use and unless you use one of their generic templates, you must be an experienced web developer to make anything that looks remotely like you intended.
Summary
Unless you are up for a challenge, don't buy this software. You will spend hours and hours trying to figure out how to make it work for you. I was so frustrated I wrote off the hundreds of dollars I spent and started all over with another FREE simple to use cart which ran circles around this one.

"I wouldn't want it, even if it was free."
Version: CoffeeCup HTML Editor 12.5
Pros
I cannot find any pros.
Cons
No more WYSIWYG.
-
"WYSIWYG abandoned - sadly now a waste of money"
Version: CoffeeCup HTML Editor 12.5
Pros
As an HTML editor it's clear and user-friendly.
Cons
It no longer functions as a WYSIWYG editor - the main reason for buying it!
Summary
It was a reasonable low-cost alternative to MS and Adobe market leaders. Abandoning the WYSIWYG Visual Editor was a huge disappointment. I've uninstalled it.

"No more WYSIWYG"
Version: CoffeeCup HTML Editor 12.5
Pros
None that I could find.
Cons
No WYSIWYG
Summary
I got this program because it had such high user and editor ratings. However, after spending a day trying to learn how to get the Visual Editor working, I discovered that it has been discontinued. I have since uninstalled this program.
-
"Not free anymore"
Version: CoffeeCup HTML Editor 12.5
Pros
none - deleted shortly after install
Cons
Not Free, a waste of my time
Summary
I decided to go with Web Expressions. Also not free but easier to use.
-
"NO MORE VISUAL EDITOR"
Version: CoffeeCup HTML Editor 12.5
Pros
Great for HTML programmers (if there are any left out there)
Cons
No visual editor (W.Y.S.I.W.Y.G. is G.O.N.E.)
Summary
I was stunned to learn (after installing the upgrade to Coffee Cup 12.5 that they have eliminated the Visual Editor feature. Never mind the documentation still tells you how to see it, it's not there (this confirmed by on-line chat with their senior development manager. Gone. Blaming Microsoft for no longer supporting whatsit, they kissed off all their user that might know a bit about HTML after managing web sites for a decade or so but really (like just about everyone) prefer to operate in WYSIWIG mode. See ya' later. They were nice enough to send me a link to download version 12 which was the last with WYSIWIG, but warned me that IT WILL NO LONGER BE SUPPORTED. Farewell Coffee Cup
