"Something swells fishy!!!"

October 21, 2005  |  By Mencius

 |  Version: CoffeeCup HTML Editor 2005

Pros

Guess I'll never find out

Cons

Havn't downloaded it yet, but dont want ever do that after reading the reviews...

***!! People giving 5/5 99% of them saying only how great the program is? And the rest 1/5 telling how it sucks big time? Doesn't smell right..

I'd rather listen to the one procentage of reviews, cuz the rest is just sound too fake:

'I have been using this program for years.. got free upgrades...best program ever...'

I mean.. if you have used it for years.. why the hell comment now! People that usually comment are the ones that have recently used it, right?

Shame on CoffeeCup for using such a such low method to promote their product! Get some intergrity!!

"Crash Crash Crash"

October 16, 2005  |  By Swarlock

 |  Version: CoffeeCup HTML Editor 2005

Pros

Yeah right

Cons

The product crashed when I tried to run it. Besides that it was difficult to navigate. Hint, If you want buyers, make a usable demo that does not crash the computer.

Even crashed on uninstall

"Crash City!"

August 01, 2005  |  By bobboli

 |  Version: CoffeeCup HTML Editor 2005

Pros

I wanted to find something likeable about this program, after reading the feature specs & thinking it's too good to be true. It was too good to be true.

Cons

This program is so buggy, I can't afford to lose my work just to give all these 'wonderful features' a try. You'd also expect the toolbar to contain the most commonly used tags but no! You get to add them yourself, if it doesn't crash first. Sorry, folks, I have work to do, and prefer a program that helps me get it done.

"Not worth the trouble"

July 21, 2005  |  By TGA

 |  Version: CoffeeCup HTML Editor 2005

Pros

The interface is OK.

Cons

Switching back and forth from Code Editor to Visual Editor is kludgy at best. Switching removes the non-breaking spaces I added to a table, to prevent display issues with blank TD elements.

It switches TD align's center and valign's middle values, so its own code cleaner and Tidy find problems with the values.

The table designer added a div and font tag for every single cell in a test table.

It uses obsolete or deprecated tags for some tasks. You have to add the buttons to the toolbar for H1 to H6, a quick look while in Visual Editor and I can't find them. You can drag and drop the tags from the tag list, only if working in Code Editor.

After testing this on blank new pages, and existing pages, it's simply not worth the effort.

With the HTML editors I use, both freeware and commercial, I've not had Tidy find problems with pages built with them. I did find it odd how many issues code cleaner found, and it usually finds more when you switch from one editor to the other, within CoffeeCup.

"No, no, no. This does not work."

July 07, 2005  |  By emeraldsoul

 |  Version: CoffeeCup HTML Editor 2005

Pros

The Dreamweaver-like promise that evaporated completely.

Cons

I have a two-month old basic Dell running XP Home edition. Not much else is installed.

I could not open a new page, open an existing page, nor open a beginning template. Error, error, error - runtime this and memory location that.

Did they test this with XP? Did 2.7 million people really download this? Is it working for anyone?

Did the Download.com editor get paid for his/her glowing review?

"talk about shady"

April 20, 2005  |  By freshyill

 |  Version: CoffeeCup HTML Editor 2005

Pros

Um...

Cons

I totally agree with the guy below who said it looks like CoffeeCup posted most of these reviews themselves.

They all look like lame marketing. Here's the general formula:

1. Say you didn't expect much for the price.

2. Bash Dreamweaver.

3. Mention [insert feature here].

4. Say how easy [feature] makes it for you to make a web page.

Here's one by me:

I thought HTML editors at this price were for suckers, and I used to be totally all about Dreamweaver, but then I found this and now I think Dreamweaver is TEH SUKC. It lets me make web pages!
