"very promising (and free)"

Pros: Adds MPEG-2 codec (amongst others: xVid, DivX, and camcorder formats) to the computer, which will then allow for DVD playback et al. Assumes you have a WDDM graphics card (IF using Windows Vista or 7); not just XDDM, as in "X"P Device Driver Model.

Cons: two toolbars get loaded (unless you choose the expert install and uncheck those boxes)

Summary: Just talking about Windows Vista and 7, make sure you are NOT using a "XDDM" driver for your graphics card; otherwise, this won't work (i.e. didn't work for me, but noticed that I had an old 64MB nVidia GeForce2 MX card that was labeled "XDDM" in th... read more >>

"So far it has been working well for me."

Pros: The video plays instantly once an upload is done

Cons: yet to find 1
