"DesktopOne Pro constantly locks up Outlook"

July 18, 2014  |  By sdave001

 |  Version: Cloudmark DesktopOne 1.4

Pros

Does a pretty good job filtering email

Cons

Locks up Outlook every 5 to 10 minutes
Customer Support gives you a run around for months then tells you you're screwed

Summary

I purchased the Pro Version but it was locking up Outlook constantly.. After 6 months of installing, uninstalling, reinstalling, running a utility program they recommended, disabling add-ins and conversing with "Customer Support", Cloudmark finally sent me this response:

Dave,
It's probably your AV. There is a known conflict with Bitdefender.
Regards,
Cloudmark Customer Support

So my options were uninstall Cloudmark or uninstall Bitdefender. I like Bitdefender.

"Very disappointing"

December 18, 2013  |  By Joah73

 |  Version: Cloudmark DesktopOne 1.4

Pros

Ehm, the only good thing is that I can remember how this used to work a few years back.

Cons

Works very erratically, sometimes it seems to work and remove some spam, but only for a short while. And only right after I reset its configuration for the millionth time. However, most of the time spam is just accumulating in my inbox. The 'stopped spam' counter still says 0, even though I saw it remove some.

Summary

For some reason the latest iterations of this product are flawed all over and very buggy. I only tried the free version, obviously. But I can't recommend this to anyone, really.

"Works Quickly and Effectively in Background w/o Email"

July 16, 2012  |  By AJthe3rd

 |  Version: Cloudmark DesktopOne 1.3.3

Pros

Cloudmark DesktopOne:
***Runs Relatively Fast
***Catches as many spams as competitors
***Use minimal Resources
***Runs even when email is not launched
***Cleanly installs and uninstalls (No leftovers after uninstall.)
***Works with IMAP and POP3 accounts
***Works directly with Web-email or client email.
***Easy to use and set up
***Automatically and correctly sets up all my 8 of my email accounts

Cons

I would like Cloudmark DesktopOne to:

***Provide plug-ins for more email clients. I prefer to use Windows Live Messenger, but a plugin has not been developed for this yet.
***Provide statisics of the types of spams blocked.

Summary

I tried Cloudmark DesktopOne as a first spam protector, but returned it for a refund because it did not provide direct Windows Live Messenger plug-ins to allow me to make full use of the product. Then I tried all the Anti-spam products suggestion on those to ten lists, on which Cloudmark DesktopOne was listed as #2. While of those products that did install on my system, all of them required me to setup each account manually. Those other packages that said that had automatic setups did so in such a way that they could not connect to the various email serves. Those that did work were so significantly slower than Cloudmark DesktopOne, that I felt force to repurchase Cloudmark DesktopOne. To me, Cloudmark DesktopOne's cons of not working with my preferred email client still made it a better product than those other anti-spam produces that could work with my email client. Again, the program is a clean install, runs smoothly in the background, and does what it says it does. And because of this, I am giving it 5 starts. I just wish was compatible with more email clients.

"Desktopone is awesome"

November 16, 2011  |  By AsherTh

 |  Version: Cloudmark DesktopOne 1.3.1

Pros

I used to get hundreds of spam every day.Now I get MAYBE one or two.

I had to contact customer service for a problem setting it up - but I found the answer I was looking for online, so easy!

Cons

It took me a couple of tries to get it set up, but I think it might have been user error.

"Cloudmark & DesktopOne IS the BEST you can use!"

May 10, 2011  |  By A1-SoftwareGoldDotCom

 |  Version: Cloudmark DesktopOne 1.2

Pros

EVERYTHING! I've used Cloudmark for the past 4 years and it works better than every other spam filter I've used.

Cons

There are none.

Summary

I have 20+ email addresses and before I started using Cloudmark I tried several other products and none of them wiped out spam like it does. The spam you get, and we all do, is "Blocked" from ever reaching your inbox. It all goes into a Spam folder that Cloudmark creates. You should check your Spam every couple of days to see if any email that you don't want to be considered spam, and you can have Cloudmark "Unblock" it.

If any spam does go into your inbox, you can have Cloudmark "Block" it and it will be moved to you Spam folder.

It won't take long before it learns what you consider spam from what you don't. You will be amazed at how quick it does away with all of your email frustrations, and wonder how you ever got along without it.

"Worked perfectly until a few days ago"

April 18, 2011  |  By snell613

 |  Version: Cloudmark DesktopOne 1.1.50

Pros

PREVIOUSLY, worked perfectly on my Windows 7 and XP machines, filtering spam with very few false hits

Cons

STOPPED FILTERING about 3 days ago, for no apparent reason.

Summary

I'vre rechecked all of my account settings, to no avail. Cloudmark provides almost no support for the free version. Basically useless to me now.

I never did see what it accomplished. It just wasn't the type of software I considered useful.

"I Like IT!"

December 20, 2010  |  By SNUSA

 |  Version: Cloudmark DesktopOne 1.1.50

Pros

Runs in the background, and filter mail at first login to windows account.
Works with any account. Scans mail before log in. Works independent of mail client. Awesome for Google Services. (especially when you 're importing multiple accounts)

Cons

Free version no longer shows time-stamp when it last checked mail. Computer must "be online" with Desktop One running in task-bar notification area prior to checking mail.

Summary

Love the way it works transparently to move potential spam from google inbox into a separate "folder" um... I mean label.... Paid version lets you use multiple accounts & has a "click to scan" now button. I've tried other solutions, and this one (for me) is the "cats meow!" Doesn't seem to have much draw on bandwidth or CPU either. It would be nice if the paid version could be: 1.) Set to manual, and 2.) Provide the ability to auto-launch your mail client automatically, immediately after scan.
