"This softw. might be a credit card hijacking gateway!!"
Version: Chris PC-Lock 2.70
Pros
It works, but why to pay for something to somebody who is unknown and non-existant by the law? Will you ever input your credit card infos into a unknown website belonging to an unknown subject?!
Cons
Moreover, anyone who could buy the licence, actually makes free of charge advertisement of this software, since "huge" Publisher ads and logos appear (of course) also in the dialog box to unlock the computer.
Summary
On the Publisher website there are no indications about the company address... Just a "non-working" email address is present.
Actually, this Publisher is completely unknown and anonymous! In fact, by consulting "http://www.who.is/whois/chris-pc.com" it appears that the domain is registerd by a general provider and not by the Publisher at all.
Why to pay for something to somebody who is unknown and non-existant by the law? Don't forget: you have to digit your credit card numbers to pay for it! Will you ever input your credit card infos into a unknown website belonging to an unknown subject?!
In addition to the risk of dealing with a unknown Publisher, this product is not worth paying for it. This software should be freeware, because users are obliged to make continuous free of charge advertisings to the sole benefit of the Publisher, without having anything in return as a compensation. In fact, huge logos and ads of the Publisher occupy more than the 50% of all graphic interfaces of the software.
Moreover, the email address "Contact@Chris-PC.com" never give any reply to any enquiry. If some user needs assistance, the better he/she completely forgets about it!
The graphic is very coarse as it is almost composed (for more than its 50%) by the Publisher's ads. That means, at any time you launch the software, onlookers see the Publisher's ads.
Also, since the concept principle of this sofware is to protect the user's privacy, it is a total nonsense that the Publisher ads appears ALSO in the dialog box to unlock the computer (by digiting the password): that is, anyone who attempts to use the computer will see what kind of software it is and - therefore - this is a total free of charge advertisement for the Publisher. This is completely unfair and, maybe, also illegal I believe.
But the worst thing remains that his that this Publisher is completely unknown and anonymous! In fact, by consulting "http://www.who.is/whois/chris-pc.com" it appears that the domain is registerd by a general provider and not by the Publisher at all. Also, the email address "Contact@Chris-PC.com" never gives any reply. By the way, this is perfectly consistant with the fact that the Publisher is a completely unknown subject.
In conclusion, my impartial suggestion is to give up with this software and to look for something else.
Even is the cost of another software might be higher, at least you won't be obliged to get the risk of your credit card hijacking, nor of giving any "free of charge advertisement" service to anyone and, maybe, you can have a realiable after-sales service to count on. -
