This free program reveals short passwords for a list of popular applications, although we found it to be light on output and user-friendliness.
Change Forgotten Password Lite has a boring interface that reveals cached passwords on your system for applications including Internet Explorer, AIM, MSN Messenger, Miranda, Outlook, and Outlook Express. You can't opt to hunt for one specific app's password, however. This software looks for installations on your machine using the entire list of applications it covers.
Unfortunately, during testing, the program only revealed the password for one of the applications, even though others were cached on our test machines. More disappointingly, the program wouldn't reveal the one successful password recovery since it was longer than five characters. Given that this download performs below average in comparison to other password recovery programs, most folks will want a more potent, configurable tool.

Version: Change Forgotten Password Lite 2.2
"does not work a come-on for the pro-version upgrade"
Cons: Found only one password and said password was too long and should upgrade to PRO VERSION. Nothing said about another version in description. Did not find any of the other described passwords. My opinion this is a sales gimmick download and as such a waste of my time.

"It says it's free but it's not free."
Pros: Small and fast. Very easy to use.
Cons: Lite version does nothing. You have to pay to do anything useful.
Summary: Unless you pay for the upgrade to the Pro version, this program does nothing. The free Lite version did not recover any of the passwords on my system. A free trial or lite version should actually be able to do something but this does nothing. If the... read more >>
