"BLOWS GHOST OUT OF THE WATER"
Pros: I thought Ghost was the only product that could do a replaceable hard drive clone but it gave me so much trouble with errors and it required adding the clone drive and booting with a bootable DOS disk. Then I found Casper. Now I can do the cloning while running XP and leave my clone drive as part of the working computer. It is so simple to use and once the first clone is done, which took about 50 minutes for an 80 GIG drive, the following cloning processes only take about 5 minutes because Smartcloning adds only the changes to the cloned hard drive. The tech support is outstanding. I sent an email asking why the size of the clone drive used space was smaller than the original drive? The response took less than a half hour. Temp files, page files, etc are not copied. Guess what? Casper costs $30 less than Ghost. I recommed this product for your backup cloning.

Cons: Call it an opinion but logic tells me that a backup or clone should not be done while other programs are running. Casper says you can do this but how can you copy something that is changing?

Version: Casper XP 3.0.1106
Pros: It is so simply designed a rank beginner can use it. Can't imagine needing tech support unless your just inquisitive.
Cons: I haven't had time to backup to all my devices. I have a SCSI stripe and back it up to my large SATA drive. I would like to save to my file storage computer, a USB external drive and try it on my 4gig Flash drive.

"Actually worked without problems"
Pros: I wanted to upgrade my laptop's hard disk. Both Paragon and Acronis did not work, I couldn't even figure out how to work ghost, also tried 2 other programs.
Finally Casper proved easy and effective!
Cons: None found yet

"Great product; Best support I've ever seen"
Pros: Product itself is simple, fast, and very effective.
More importantly, the (free) support was simply the best I've ever seen for any software I've purchased. I had a number of problems cloning a hard drive, requiring several emails back and forth. Their staff replied to each email in 15 minutes or less, with detailed instructions, leading to resolution of the problem within a couple hours. Try that with companies like Symantec or Microsoft...!
Cons: Absolutely none!

Version: Casper XP 3.0.1106
Pros: Casper Explorer in full registered version 4.0 allows to configure Casper specifying which files can be excluded when copying.
Cons: There are 2 modes for backup in Casper - Standard and SmartClone. In standard mode entire disk is copied what takes a lot of time so it can be easily replaced by other imaging software like Ghost, Drive Image or True Image which are quite reliable, not so pricey and even faster. SmartClone is supposed to provide update function for backups which is really fast. So idea is quite good but implementation is not reliable. Basically the problem with SmartClone is that it updates by copying, not mirroring - what means that old junk files will be accumulated on backup drive as they are not removed during consecutive updates. That can include eg. garbage files, uninstalled applications or virus infections, so SmartClone is not so smart after all, even causing serious problems. Until this problem is fixed I would recommend using Beyond Compare 2 for half a price of Casper as it allows fast mirror drive update and also comparison of folders with mirror updates. This way several backups can be maintained quite easily.
