If you're sick of hopping from one chatware program to another, looking for the perfect mix of video, audio and text socializing, CamFrog might be what you're looking for.
The chat rooms feature everything from music lessons to sign language to non-English chatting, and integrating video, audio, and text components are a great leap forward for chat communities since a Web cam is not a requirement. Be warned, though: There's also a slew of x-rated chat rooms; this is not a program that kids should use without supervision.
The interface should be familiar to anyone who has used any messaging software. You can create your own chat room and password-protect it, and the Contacts list has a section for favorite rooms and one-click contact adding, user searching, and profile management.
The interface could have been better designed, though. Chat rooms open in a new window, room participants get another, the user control panel gets a third one, and the video window makes four. A design that kept everything together but distinct would add far less clutter to your taskbar and screen.
Despite those drawbacks, if you're looking for a well-trafficked video chat program that serves a diverse community, CamFrog is cool place to land.

Instant message a user to get to know them before you Webcam chat, and add them to your contact list. This videoconferencing software also works behind most firewalls and routers. Camfrog Video Chat allows multi-user videoconferencing where you can join a room with up to 1000 users and just click a user name to begin seeing someone. Press the 'talk' button to talk to the entire room with audio. The video chat rooms are hosted by broadband users who are running the Camfrog Video Chat Room Server software so any user can set up their own multi-user videoconference for other users to join. No Webcam is required to see people, but some rooms might not allow users without Webcams. Camfrog Video Chat is optimized for broadband users so it has fast video. Version 3.81.21234 features new parental controls and stability enhancements. Camfrog now officially supports Windows Vista.

"Nothing new. Crippleware at it best. Non-existent customer support"
Pros: Fast video streaming. Plenty of traffic.
Cons: This software has been in development for over 2 years; minor fixes and bundling extra software into the installation package hardly qualify as "NEW".
Program cost $50.00 USD. Camfrog used to pay $20.00 to affiliates for every Camfrog Pro sales but that program was discontinued without warnings and/or explanations. How can Camfrog justify charging $50.00 for a program that should cost end-users just $30.00?
Camfrog does not have a dedicated team of customer service specialists. Camfrog's owner runs the entire operation all by himself. That probably explains the long delays when replying to technical and/or customer support inquiries and the unanswered mails. The help forum was shut down without warnings and/or explanations.
Camfrog insist on bundling extra software in the installation package (Pando, Camfrog toolbar, The Weather Channel).
All chat rooms in the adult 18+ section are privately owned (not by Camfrog), which gives carte blanche to sadist room owners and operators to kick and ban for the slightest infraction (paying for the software will not shield you from their wraths). In addition, anybody can watch your webcam, add you to their buddy list and locate what chat room you are in (with or without your explicit consent).
Camfrog management tends to make unwarranted intrusions into the private affairs of chat private room. Furthermore, reports abound of chat rooms being unjustly shutdown and registration codes being deactivated by Camfrog management (without explanations). Canned messages are sent in response to all inquiries about bans and Pro Codes deactivations.
