Version: CSE HTML Validator Professional 7.0
Pros: * Can be configured to be Very Fussy, which is a good thing.
* Configurable to different standards, such as 4.0, 4.01, transition, XHTML, etc.
* Excellent, very timely/prompt tech-support
* Free Lite-version is very capable and lets yuu get a good idea of the capabilities (or use trial)
* Actively supported as far as releases to keep up with the times.
Cons: * Rather a complicated program to learn how to configure.
* Embedded help (as installed) seems to be in a non-standard format (not WinHelp or HtmlHelp?) Doesn't seem to include index.
* Free version is capabile enough that a person can very well do fine without spending a dime. Not a negative, but perhaps a little bit of "buyer's remorse".

"Long-requested built-in HTML Tidy module from W3C makes it awesome!"
Pros: This program has been best in its class for a LONG time, but keeps getting better due to input from loyal and knowledgeable users. The programmer is simply brilliant!
Cons: Not much to complain about with v7.0+ at all. Some may think the Pro version is a bit pricey, but there is also a Standard and Lite (FREE!) version available as well.

"The one-and-only true validator around"
Pros: This fine product has saved me on a number of occasions, and it has made my life easier and more enjoyable when it comes to that menial chore of validating code. Not only has this great utility nabbed nasty issues here and there, it has aided me greatly in learning the true art of creating compatible code.
Cons: This is full-fledged validator which means that it is probably not well suited to the light-hearted. While it can become quite complex because of its daunting flexibility, an initial period of getting used to it is in the long run worth the investment of time.

"Great, unforgiving validation"
Pros: I use only the validator hooked into TextPad and not the actual editor portion of HTML Validator so my review is based solely on that part of the software.
I've been using HTML Validator for 4 or 5 years now and consider it an indispensible tool. The program really nitpicks apart your code and gives messages in clear, easy to understand language by line and character number.
Cons: Settings for the validator options such as flags and styles are not clear and it's a hassle to figure out their meaning. This is really my only complaint about the software and the only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars.

"A wonderful tool that has grown better with each new update"
Pros: The CSE HTML Validator is very good at explaining errors and warnings about so many aspects of the code found in a web page. Having been a user since its inception, I've loved seeing it grow and mature into one of the nicest tools available today. It addresses so many aspects of web page development, including the ever more important accessibility issues as well as CSS and HTML code. In addition, it points out possible code problems with previous versions of various browsers. It can't be all things to all people, but it sure can help!!
One important thing to mention, too, is that the developers are stellar in their support for the product.
