Publisher's Description
From Albert L. Faber:
CDex is an application that records audio tracks from CDs and saves them to a disk as regular WAV files or as encoded sound files. This program features an MP3 decoder (MPEG 1/2/3-based) and a new LAME encoder, and has built-in support to generate OGG Vorbis files. CDex is available in English, German, Italian, and Spanish.

Cons

Summary
To quickly and easily converted. Mp3 or. Mp2 files to. Wav files.
The interesting thing about this program is in changing the file extension. It retains the same amount of KB that the original file. Compared with any other software, it turns out to be wonderful.
The only way to give thanks for this service is cooperating economically with the creators.
"Creates "Fake .wav" .mp3 files for PowerPoint !!!"
Version: CDex 1.51
Pros
Creates "Fake .wav" .mp3 files for PowerPoint presentations!!
Cons
Appears that source .mp3 file MUST be created by CDex.
Summary
This is the ONLY program I've been able to find that will set up an .mp3 file (giving it a .wav extension) that PowerPoint will allow to be "embedded" into the presentation--thereby significantly reducing the size of the PowerPoint file from what it otherwise would be with a .wav file embedded (Convert > Add RIFF-WAV header). Despite warnings on the CDex website about problems when running on XP, I installed this on XP and it worked with no problems (upon opening the first time, answer "Yes" when asked if you want to use the "Native NT SCSI" drivers). HOWEVER, so far, I have been able to create RIFF-WAV header files that can actually be successfully embedded in PowerPoint files (without something crashing or becoming corrupted somewhere along the way) ONLY IF the source .mp3 file has itself been created by CDex. May have something to do with the various option settings. Don't know.
