"Sadly, it's not the best anymore"
| Version: CDex 1.75
Pros
Easy to use with a wide variety of options.
Access to multiple on-line CD databases.
Works really quickly.
Takes a minute amount of HD space.
Although some may call it dated, the interface is still the same with the familiar layout. At least the software authors haven't [yet] fallen for the b/s metro interface bandwagon.
Cons
Ripping CDs to mp3 produces poor results. Used 192Kbps/Stereo/16bit, but the sound quality resembled that of a cheap home cassette recorder. Other users may not have such a problem, and it may not affect ripping to other formats (which I haven't done).
Installation needs care as the download is infested with crapware (term does not apply to the Opera browser). Users are strongly recommended to use a 'custom' install and deselect the extra software.
Summary
Despite the familiar easy to use interface, this does not perform as well as it once did. The poor sound quality from ripped CDs means I cannot recommend this. A shame really because I used to use it on other much older systems and was then delighted with its performance.

Pros
Oooooooooooooook
Cons
But I do like it. Strange required field!!
"Very effective ripping software."
| Version: Not Found
Pros
Once set up, it is quite easy to use !
Cons
The set-up is quite confusing.
Summary
Very effective ripping software, although the interface takes a while to understand.
The first time set-up is quite confusing.
If you have not had exposure to the terms used and choice of different codecs.
The quality setting is very cryptic and it should have a clear indication of the quality/file size compromise of each setting. I do like it though, and I use it as my main MP3 conversion software.

"It is a very good program for me"
| Version: Not Found
Pros
I us it to copress a WAV file down to the much smaller size , so I was able to make my phot ppt presentaion file size down than it will be able to sent to my friends by e-mail
Cons
I do not like the voice of " AVS media demon" with the sound which I embedded in the presentation. How can get rid of it ? Can I buy the "real software" instead us the free downloaded stuff.
"Brilliant!!! And it's free!!!"

Pros
Easy to use. Does one thing and one thing only. This it does extremely well.
Cons
There is nothing I don't like about this product.
Summary
I'm not one for packages that are "all encompassing". CDex suits me in that it does one thing - converting CD tracks to digital files. As a sideline, converting between formats is also a useful feature. The interface is well designed and the fully customizable features are powerful and easy to follow. For what it sets out to do, CDex does it extremely well. It's simple and effective. The only thing I can't work out is why it's free.
"Works Great"

Summary
Great tool.
"Quick and easy"
| Version: Not Found
Pros
It works quickly and takes little effort to rip mp3s, especially if you make use of the online CDDB
Cons
Nothing yet.
"Great for .wav to .mp3 conversion & decoding .mp3 to .wav "
| Version: Not Found
Pros
Lots of options as to determining the quality and size of the .mp3 files converted from .wav files. Select one or more files to convert at a time. Setting destination folder for newly converted files is another feature I like.
Cons
Took a little trial and error but it's worth it; been using it for years. Thanks Albert.
"Simple & does the job"

Does the job - been using it for years
Cons
But hard to configure the options - it's not intuitive. Interface could be better.
