"Awesome disk cataloger"
Version: CDFinder 5.7.1
Pros
Fast, doesn't block while cataloging, reads XMP and IPTC, and makes very nice thumbnails.
Cons
.........................................
Summary
OK, the user interface needs a bit of a lift, but this works MUCH better than all the other shiny tools that choke with serious amounts of data. Love it!

"Longtime Favorite"
Version: CDFinder 5.7
Pros
Catalogs the contents of your discs, including contents inside of archives like ZIP and SIT.
The catalogs work on Mac and PC (On PC you use the CDWinder version of the app). You can put the catalogs on a server, and you're set.Cons
Can't really think of any.
Summary
The main thing is that it's cross-platform. It is reasonably lightweight and it gives you the ability to search all of your backups without having to physically touch or load your discs.
If you do backups, this is a great tool! -
"It does the job."
Version: CDFinder 5.7
Pros
Does what it's supposed to do
Cons
I don't particularly care for the interface-too 'PC' like; something I have to check-does it automatically scan any removable device (external hard drive, CD's, DVD's, etc.)???
Summary
It does what it's supposed to do and I have used it for quite awhile now. Haven't found anything that does it better.

"Works perfectly"
Version: CDFinder 5.5
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I must say I'm very impressed. I thought Virtual Machines weren't recognized (cf. my previous post) but it was only a matter of deactivating an option in the preferences. I therefore correct my evaluation: this app rocks by all means and it undoubtedly deserves 5 stars. Also the developper's response is terrific. -
"EXCELLENT!!"
Version: CDFinder 5.1.1

Thanks for the update!
I've been using this excellent app for many years without any problems at all.
Great GUI and speed! -
"Amazing, and gets better and better"
Version: CDFinder 5.0.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I use this for several years now, and have more than 5000 DVDs and CDs catalogued, along with 700 audio CDs and two dozen external hard drives.
I have no idea how I would ever find anything without CDFinder!
Now imagine my happy surprise when they added photo thumbnails with version 5, and the update was even for free!!!
I would love to see better cover templates in the future, the current ones look nice, but the text isn't placed nicely within them sometimes - but at least CDFinder CAN print cover inlays for me, and I need no other tool for that...
The ride to Leopard is a bit bumpy, but the excellent CDFinder tech support has helped me a great deal with it, and quickly so.
The alternatives I had tried are Neometric Catalog (shiny interface, but a rather bloated database and almost no features at all) and DiskLibrary (also a shiny interface, but no printing, displaying just a single preview at a time, and horribly slow at cataloging, as well as creating a huge database), but CDFinder beats them all hands-down in any category. -
"request 3d model previews"
Version: CDFinder 5.0.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
im a 3d modeler i would like for the developer to consider previews to be available for various 3d formats(max/lws/c4d/obj/dxf/...etc). it would be simple to do since most 3d applications can save a preview picture along with the file... -
"Keeps crashing when searching"
Version: CDFinder 5.0.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
When searching on larger catalogs (eg DVDs), it keeps crashing.
This problem was in previous versions too.
Recatalogging doesn't solve it.
So quite unstable for its main function: catalogging and searching.
Same problem in the windows version cdwinder. -
"One of my favorite's"
Version: CDFinder 5.0.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Using it for several years now and it's getting better with every upgrade. Especially the preview feature is very helpful. It's easy to use, fast and never caused any trouble. Just love it! -
"Great"
Version: CDFinder 5.0.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Not 100% perfect, but works great and fast. The new interface for version 5 seems a little clunky to me though. I get thrown off by the "column" look because you'd think it works like the Finder in column view but it doesn't.
