The Web Atom's CCleaner Enhancer adds support for more than 270 programs to CCleaner, the popular system and Registry-cleaning tool from Piriform. CCleaner Enhancer adds rules and definitions sourced from the Piriform Support Forum and other online resources to CCleaner's built-in WinApp2.ini system. When you run CCleaner again, the new programs are automatically included and ready to be selected for scanning.

We downloaded and ran the latest version of CCleaner prior to installing CCleaner Enhancer, to better gauge the additional effects. CCleaner Enhancer first asks to check for updates, which is usually wise. We ran CCleaner's cleaning tool again, and it turned up a few hundred kilobytes of persistent files that it had missed in the run prior to installing CCleaner Enhancer; it wasn't much in disk capacity, but it's a definite boost in the program's weed-whacking ability. Next we ran the Registry tool, and this time the enhancements were more obvious, with a couple dozen ActiveX/COM issues, missing shared DLLs, and a few more Registry artifacts the first pass had missed. In total, it fixed 53 additional Registry issues, not counting items deselected, most of which were inconsequential. We rebooted and ran each tool again, with no surprises, which is what we hoped to find; nothing was missed, and nothing unexpected happened.

CCleaner Enhancer is freeware, and it adds clearly visible functionality to software that already has some things going for it. It's just the beginning, of course; as creative developers add capabilities to CCleaner, tools like Cleaner Enhancer will make them available to you.

"Don't waste your time on this one!"

    Version: CCEnhancer 3.8

.(NOW there are now more than ten Characters, CNet!)

Wouldn't do anything at all without first having to install Microsoft .Netframework (NetFx20SP2_x86.exe). After I found and installed that, CCEnhancer opened "a window box", but would not do anything else. It didn't install on the computer, it didn't do anything at all.

Don't waste your time on this one!

    Version: CCEnhancer 3.8

Regular updates, gets the job done, resource friendly, excellent addition to CCleaner

not a stand alone client requiring CCleaner to do the actual cleaning

I have used both CCEnhancer and CCleaner for many years without issue.

However, when using any client that addresses issues in your computers registry, you should always back up the items the client intends to correct. Just in case there becomes a problem.

I clean my computers monthly. I run ASC 7 first and then CCEnhancer and CCleaner. ASC automatically backs up the items to be removed. When using the registry cleaner function of CCleaner, the user is propted whether or not to back up the issues removed. If you are not an experienced computer user and can recognize where an issue may occur, back them up. The backup file will be placed in your documents folder.

    "Watch out!"

    Version: CCEnhancer 3.8

Seems to remove A LOT of stuff, each time finding more and more.

But will chip away at bits of OS from outside toward center through such files as dlls until computer becomes unusable, along with CC doing the same, that's my experience over the years. Had to do reinstalls every 2 months or so after progressively worse system failures. This time left CC and extensions out of the picture, no problems. Cannot prove a negative but I would not put this one back on.
