Publisher's Description
From wjtregaskis@students.latrobe.edu.au:
Designed to be superficially similar to Apple's Installer in basic concept, the significant difference is that the Build Installer builds the software & libraries to be installed directly from the source. This is very useful for scientific & engineering libraries, where efficiency and performance are paramount - pre-built binaries just can't cater for every model and configuration.
Please note that this is not a program like Fink that lets you install various programs out of the box. It is a developer tool - an installer template, if you like - for people to use.
What's new in this version:
- Users can now save the source and/or archive using the Export menu. Good if they want access to it themselves, or don't have the required tools to decompress/install the archive. Note that StuffIt Expander is quite capable of expanding tbz archives, so users can thus now perform the install manually, provided they still have make installed.
- The progress bar has been removed, since it was quite obviously fake anyway. If I figure out a way of making it meaningful, I'll put it back in.<... See all new features
