If you keep your expectations for this freeware very low, you might not be disappointed. While it does add some minimal functionality to a few Web sites, it is primarily a way to create shortcuts to frequently visited sites.

Bubbles hype may have you expecting more, but this little program's simplistic settings interface tells the real story. Basically, you can add a URL and check a box to have it load on system startup. The process is easy, but it would have been nice if you could right click on a site to quickly add it to Bubbles. Once sites are added, you can open them through a subfolder in Bubble's main folder and they'll appear as icons in the system tray. When the site opens, there aren't any navigation buttons or a file menu. You can surf via links on the page, but you won't have any of the other options you find when browsing with IE or Firefox. The Help button on the settings page only takes you to Bubbles' home page and the directions are minimal. They tout the program's ability to create easy notifications for Yahoo Mail and Google Calendars, along with adding drag-and-drop functionality to Flickr, but the first two simply recreate capabilities found in the program and add them to your system tray. Depending on your setup, the system tray could get really overloaded.

In its favor, Bubbles is a freeware and doesn't eat up too many system resources, but it also doesn't offer a great deal more than adding shortcuts using standard Windows methods.

Publisher's description

From 3D3R Software Studios :

Bubbles turns Web applications into desktop ones, making the usage of frequent service-oriented Web site into a comfortable desktop-application-style experience. The desktop we use was designed with the assumption that most of the apps we use are available on the desktop, and therefore, they can be minimized to the task bar, ionized into the system tray, right-clicked to provide a context-sensitive menu.

Version 1.14 has right-click-menu for site s system-tray-icons. New JavaScript API for making unbelievable things, keep shortcuts on the desktop, send to friends, modify as you wish.

Capture your digital lifestyle.
