"Amazing product, but cumbersome as well"
Version: Breakaway Audio Enhancer 1.01
Pros
This is a really well made piece of software. If you think that you don't "need" it, then try it out and it will change your mind. The difference in sound quality (even on my cheap Cyber Acoustics 2.1 speakers) is almost tangible, and the price is pretty fair when you consider how much you could be paying for something of such great quality.
Cons
Some things were not so nice about Breakaway (I've been using it for the last 30 days on a new system running Vista Premium 32 bit). The problems I encountered were both minor and consistent.
The first thing you will notice after you restart your computer and start running Breakaway is a small spike in your processor usage, and your mp3s will be slightly distorted. This takes about half an hour to clear up, or you can run the program in "test" mode and it will get rid of the problem in about five minutes. The issue I had with this was: It does it every single time you restart your computer. So, if you are one of those people that leaves your computer on stand-by, it shouldn't be an issue.
The other massive pain in the ass I had with this product was actually buying it: Why the hell do I have to wait "2 business days" for them to "manually process" my order? When I pay for a product with my credit card, I expect to damn well be allowed to use it that same day.

"Audiophile Grade"
Version: Breakaway Audio Enhancer 1.01
Pros
I was thoroughly surprised when I installed and listened to this in my hifi system (klipsch speakers, carver amp, apogee mini-dac). These guys actually seem to know what they're doing! With Reference Settings, it evened out volume levels really nicely, but without making it sound compressed. It also brought out details in the music and brought out a delicate warmth I have never noticed before, and yet never over-enhanced everything, it made it sound MORE natural, not less.. In fact, the feeling I got was "wow, this is how my music was supposed to sound all along" ...!

"Best Computer Audio Processing"
Version: Breakaway Audio Enhancer 1.01
Pros
This sure beats DFX, as someone else reviewed. Actually, DFX isn't even in the same ballpark as this. It's debatable if DFX is even worth it's own purchase price, yet Breakaway sounds at least as good as the $15,000+ audio processors from Orban, Omnia, IDT, Vorsis, Aphex, etc, etc... And to my ears (i'm a real mastering engineer, with a world-class studio)... it sounds completely un-distorted in comparison with the other top-end audio processors.
You simply must try this to believe how great it sounds. Simply incredible.

"This is the same technology that radio stations uses."
Version: Breakaway Audio Enhancer 1.01
Pros
DFX is an enhancer thats just OK for consumer use.
Breakaway is something really developed for radio and TV stations, and I am shocked the developer made a consumer version of it. It uses the same internal engine as the radio station processor.
This is simply hands down the best audio enhancer for your computer.
If you've heard of Orban or Omnia, it does the same thing, but even better than those systems.
I bet alot of folks are stunned that the developer actually released a consumer version of a product that's worth about $30,000.
Try it. it's awesome.
