Editors' Review

BootRacer is a free utility that measures how long it takes your PC to boot up and saves it in an archive. You can use it to compare boot times when you make changes, such as removing programs from your startup file. It doesn't display your boot record, though it does measure Time to Logon, Logon to Desktop, and other increments. It writes events to the standard event log, which you can view with Windows Event Viewer. It can't make any changes to your system that affect your boot time, but it will try to get you to buy software that can. However, that doesn't stop you from making your own changes to your boot sequence in the Windows System Configuration tool and using BootRacer to test and compare their effects.

BootRacer's ultrasimple interface offers a minimum of controls: just Start, Advanced, and Exit buttons to the side, and two more buttons labeled Speed my PC and Show History beneath. Under Advanced, we could access a manual, get support, and access the options, most of which apply to how BootRacer behaves when your system starts. We made our selections and closed any other programs we had opened since BootRacer needed to reboot our system to do its thing. We rebooted, and BootRacer tracked our boot time with an onscreen display. When our system had finished booting, BootRacer displayed our current boot results on its main page, including Time to Logon and Time to Desktop. Clicking Show History opened a table recording our boot event and displaying its duration in seconds and on a bar graph. With BootRacer enabled, each subsequent boot was recorded, enabling us to compare each startup event. Clicking Speed up PC took us to a link to download a system cleaner.

Though you can use BootRacer just for fun, it provides an overview of your startup time that's easier to use than the Event Viewer, which is great for making quick checks of any changes you make to your system.

"I wouldn't take it too seriously"

Installed hassle free. Nice and visually appealing interface. Easy to use.

Not reliable.
Downloaded, installed and ran BR among other similar software awhile ago. Just to test. My desktop was fully functional after 24 sec and it took to get Google Chrome up and running and access my mailbox another 20 sec .. BootRacer still counting .. When the timer hit 64 sec it finally decided to say Good to go ..
Windows Boot Timer gave me 42 sec.
Windows 7 Pro, Dell Optiplex PC with Samsung 850 EVO SSD

It definitely gives a sort of imagination about your pc's current state, but I wouldn't take those numbers too seriously .. just use another boot timer and you'll get completely different result.

"Excellent product but redirects to malicious websites"

1)Easy user interface.
2)Unlike other system optimizers,it actually shows exact boot time each time you start the windows.(Glary utilities shows system boot time but it is erroneus. You can also check system boot time by using event viewer in windows)
3)Categorization of boot time is present.

If we click on speed up button it redirects to the following website
And my eset smart security 7 blocked this site as unwanted content. My friend's bitdefender antivirus also blocked it.However just by two antivirus reports we can't conclude that this website is harmful, but better be safe than sorry.

Except that above suspicious activity I've mentioned above this is a versatile application.I recommend every one to use it.

"is here finally"

This application helps me to visually see rather than "guessing" or the feeling my computer is slowing down over time. When a new program is installed you'll know right away if your system take extra seconds to boot up. Is also very helpful to find out if defragging and optimizing really shave off extra seconds that you normally you wouldn't notice. I'm using windows 7 pro.

I don't know why it doesn't work in my XP System

I recommend it highly specially in win 7 pro.

"Is a useful means to benchmark my startup times."

Provices an accurate means to measure how long it takes to startup my computer. Therefore it is a useful tool to use as I take steps to further reduce my computer's startup time.

I do not appreciate the evaluation copy of SpeedUpMyComputer that is linked in the software
