BonkEnc is a CD ripper, audio encoder and converter for various formats. It can produce MP3, MP4 / M4A, Ogg Vorbis, AAC, Bonk and FLAC files. BonkEnc supports free db protocol level 6 (Unicode), CDText and ID3v2 tags and is available in several languages. BonkEnc makes it easy to convert your CDs to MP3 or Ogg Vorbis audio files. Files can be automatically tagged to include artist and title information.

Updates the LAME and Ogg Vorbis encoder to their latest versions and includes various translation updates and bug fixes.

"Avira says it's a threat."

Pros: It's fee. that's it.

Cons: Avira AntiVir says it's a threat when I try to download it. I chose to not install it.

Version: BonkEnc Audio Encoder 1.0.10

"Great Software - and It's FREE!"

Pros: - Does everything some competitors you have to pay for do (dB and foobar2000) - and does it much simpler.
- Supports many file formats (more than listed above) and comes with the encoders packaged in.

Cons: - None that I can think of (save for a very basic UI)

Summary: Bonk is a great CD-decoder/encoder/file converter. It uses LAME for mp3, so it is top notch when it comes to accurate encoding. I use this to rip CDs and convert files, as it is simple, and works great, without having to track down codecs. Steer ... read more >>
