"No of No Better Software"

Pros
Easy to use and allows me to select how I want to compare files. I can do a quick comparison or line by line. Displays the differences so I can pick the newer file or merge the two. Great for web editing!
Cons
None. Maybe a cooler layout, but I dont mind the database look.

Summary
I have never used any software that was this easy and this straightforward. The comparison screen tells you in high detail, exactly what the differences are between your files and folders. And you can update (merge or copy or move or delete or whatever you want) simply, usually with just one click.

Summary
I was looking for something to help me keep three computers, in two locations, synced. I am always moving around between my house and cabin and want to stay "in touch". I have everything organized in "My Directory" using Windows 7 and Office 2010. I tried Windows Live, but it is just not there yet. I went on CNET and found Beyond Compare, downloaded it and got going. Now, it's a breeze. I use Beyond Compare and a 32G flash drive to keep the three computers in sync. It takes less that 2 minutes and I'm off and going at my new location.

This app has everything a developer would ever want and more in an FTP util. On top of it it plays well with most IDE with makes it an even easier choice. Most file diff apps are confusing and unsightly, this is the complete opposite.

I guess it can compare folders like the older versions did. I'll never know because the interface doesn't offer that option.

No way to compare two folders that I can find. Just these "sessions" that don't give the option to compare two folders. So, what's the point? Only 255 characters to review.
Summary
Bottom line- If you already uses Beyond Compare, keep your older version. The new version is too convoluted to be of any use. To me, that was the main thing the program was supposed to do.
Okay. I've opened the program again and NOW there is an option to compare folders. It was NOT there upon the first opening of the software. I retract my review and give BC3 5 stars. User error.

Pros
Compared to other tools (Winmerge and Clearcase diff for example), Beyond's compare algorithm is superior. I tried Winmerge for awhile a work because the company wouldn't buy it. I eventually bought my own version for my work PC!
