This is an awesome product. I have been using it since version 1.1 and I don't know how I ever lived without this product. I started using this at my job and I bought a copy for home. Every person I have shown this product to has started using it. When version 2 was released I couldn't believe that they had actually made it better. The UI on this product is incredibly intuitive and easily customizable. Obviously they use their own product.
Cons
Occasionally the product will hang, although this is less frequent with each release.

I'm not one to usually bother messing with reviews but this utility is so useful I'll make an exception. Geese, I even bought it (:
I'm a programmer myself and I can tell you one thing - this sucker is VERY well designed and coded. My hat's off to everyone that had anything to do with its development. I've even used some of the controls design found in Beyond Compare as a teaching tool for how to design an effective and yet aesthetic user interface. This program has so many features (yet, still pretty easy to master) I really haven't scratched the surface of what all it can be used for. Last night I used it to go thru a huge set of files and folders and find some very subtle changes that had crept in and were causing a industrial machine's HMI to display gibberish. Sometimes I use it to take snapshots of the Windows Registry before and after a task and then analyze how the task modified it. I also use it to keep some important folder/file structures on several PCs synchronized and up-to-date.
There are quite a few third party plugins freely available at Scooter Software's web site that further extend its abilities. If you have any doubts about Beyond Compare just check out the user forum at Scooter Software's website and see for yourself. Or better yet, download it and try it out.
[BTW - I would have gone for a good bit more than the $30 cost but then I would have probably had to deliver this little speel to my boss and the purchasing dept where I work since I use it there a lot too.]

It is easy to use. It works great. It is customizable. I use it all the time. Once I found it for work, I had to buy it for home. I can't imagine being without it now, and wish I had found it long ago. I recommend it to everyone.
