Don't be fooled by the adorable kittens and the yuk-yuk humor: making a greeting card is serious work. Luckily, there's Belltech Greeting Card Designer, which presents a lot of the drafting and drawing tools you'd see in drawing programs, plus a few cute extras. When you start the program, you choose from three greeting-card layouts: quarter-fold top, quarter-fold side, or half-fold. Folding is easy, and the program even suggests what card stock to use for each template. If you change your mind, all you have to do is hit the Change Size & Fold Type button, although your card's layout might need tweaking.

Drawing tools include straight line, freehand, rectangle, ellipse, triangle, and closed curve, as well as light-hearted ones such as hearts, stars, smileys, and quote balloons. You can add and edit text, change the font and the size, and adjust the alignment. The program inserts JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG, WMF, or TIFF images. You can move individual elements to the front or the back, shuffle them one step forward or back, and make them transparent. Printing adds a watermark to the inside of the card. All told, Belltech Greeting Cards Designer is well suited to homebodies who want to create personalized cards.

Use hundreds of supplied verses to create quarter-fold or half-fold cards. Add color-gradient effects, texture, partial transparency, shadows to your images, and shapes. Belltech Greeting Card Designer supports BMP, JPEG, GIF, PNG, WMF, or TIFF images; and offers cut-copy-paste functionality for all the design elements and from other programs.

Version 3.0 is a minor update with image-editing feature.
