Hiring a professional computer-security consultant is out of reach for most home PC users, but Belarc Advisor can fill part of that gap.
The app analyzes a machine's weak points, looking at elements such as whether antivirus software is up to date, or whether all the security flaws in Windows have been patched. It uses the Center for Internet Security (CIS) benchmark test to give the computer a score showing its overall security level, and produces a report that can be viewed in a Web browser.
Not only does it analyze software and operating system components and tell you where problems are, but in its comprehensive report it tells you what your computer's physical components are: not just how much RAM you have, for example, but what kind of RAM and which slots are occupied.
This program doesn't fix the problems itself, but gives clear advice on how to address each issue. This download is free for personal use; we recommend it to home users as a first step in securing their home systems, or for those considering a hardware upgrade who want to see what's in their current system.

Version: Belarc Advisor 5.1k
Pros: Downloads and analyzes very rapidly
Cons: The only thing I dislike about the product is the 'font' that they chose to use when displaying system information. It is very illegible.Wish they would use a clearer font style.

Version: Belarc Advisor 5.1k
"Excellent, efficient, and detailed."
Pros: Despite the lack of settings, the window opened in my preferred browser (Firefox) with very legible, organized text. It provided an invaluable service by indexing all my programs along with their version numbers. I'd recommend Belarc Advisor to anyone who needs detailed hardware/software information in under one minute.

Version: Belarc Advisor 5.1k
Pros: Very simple, straight forward tool to analyze your system. My PC has been crashing daily for a while now and I couldn't find the problem. Ran Belarc and it showed a few Windows Updates that hadn't downloaded properly, I reinstalled the updates and my PC hasn't crashed in a week. Thank you Belarc!

Version: Belarc Advisor 5.1k
"Belarc has been a great software I've had it over a year with no problems"
Pros: The thing I like is it puts my software w/keycode in a neat list with a link by each one that takes me to target. I use it to find old programs I seldom use so I can store or delete. It shows all windows updates w/the ones you need to reinstall. Good Job
Cons: When I think of one I'll come back.
