From Be Incorporated :Previously known only in small circles as the ""Media OS,"" BeOS 5 Personal Edition is now available as a free download. Thanks to new innovative technology from Be, you can download BeOS 5 Personal Edition via a Web browser and store it as a file within Windows. No repartitioning is necessary, and launching BeOS 5 is as simple as double-clicking an icon on your desktop. This update incorporates the latest changes that will be released in the upcoming BeOS 5.0.1 patch, as well as some important licensing changes.

Pros: it is fast, easy to use. cd burning is fast!
Cons: terminal is too complex to use, if you want to install this on a hard disk, DO NOT use it on the same disk you put it on or you have to insert the boot floppy EVERY tim you want to use BE os.

"The closest a PC will ever get to Mac."

"Depends on what you use it for"
Summary: At the moment I have it set up on an old 166, with a bog standard video card and a creative 1024 soundcard and it works perfectly fine, all hardware recognised etc, but that's all fine as all the PC is used for is playing sound effects in a theater ... read more >>

Pros: I was amaze that this product is free and really really fast but...
Cons: the lack of drivers and support for hardware is a real failure
