CNET Editors' review
Babylon-Pro is a very good multilingual dictionary and reference tool. Covering most major languages and offering a huge number of free glossary add-ons, the program has a bounty of features. Babylon-Pro initially tries to add itself to your start-up programs without asking, but it discreetly runs in the background once installed. Look up words or phrases from any Windows program by simply selecting the text and using a key shortcut or mouse click that is easily modified in the Configuration options.
Selecting single words or short phrases for definitions or translations works very well, but translating larger chunks of text directly from a browser is less successful. Longer text works better when pasted directly into the Babylon interface, and translations tend to be more sensible than free online services. You can listen to a computerized voice pronounce words in English, but you'll need to add more text-to-speech engines to hear words in other languages. Another helpful feature lets you quickly convert currency, measurements, or time zones. A vast number of additional dictionaries and glossaries, both free and for sale, are available from the Babylon Web site, and adding new dictionaries is simple and fast. You can even build your own personalized glossaries with links and embedded images. The full-featured 30-day trial offers plenty of time to decide whether Babylon is valuable to you. The wide array of features and impressive options for adding custom content help this reference tool earn a top rating.

"I got ripped of and they lied to me"
Version: Babylon 6
Pros
May work with other languages but not from Swedish to French
Cons
Got sold a product for translation from Swedish to French, which it doesn't work for.
Wanted to buy the monthly version first but got forced to upgrade by a salesman who promised I could quit within one month for no cost if I wasn't satisfied.
Have since then tried to get my money back, without any success.Summary
Stay away from it, it doesn't work and service sucks!

"very very difficult for a novice"
Version: Babylon 6
Pros
That someday way in the future I will be able to use this device as promised. I do not think so but I am an optimist..!!!
Cons
I really, really do not like at all your after service support. I really appreciated the trial where I could just point and click and what I pointed at translated into the language that I wanted. Simple and eficient. I just had to post it and done
Summary
It is the worst operating device I have ever had the misfortune to try. There are no operating instructions. The people that you call are not clearly understood the telephone connection is very poor. The trial went really well. I would somehow point at the response I received on FaceBook and bingo it was there in German or English ready to send. I looked really clever. Now I am baffled with science. I really appreciate the idea, it needs some cleaning up.A lot of cleaning up. .

"Doesn't works with FF & other prog. Bad License rule."
Version: Babylon 6
Pros
When it works (from M$-Office) it works Ok.
Cons
Does not works from Firefox and other software. Company license policy is terrible, they can block your Babylon "by mistake" - No phone support. Even if you bought perpetual license.
Summary
Stay a way, do not buy. Unless the company fix the bug and change the license's policy.

"not worth the money"
Version: Babylon 6
Pros
when it does work, it's ok, but when does it work? i bought it for my work, and depend heavily on it, and can only get it to work 1/8 of the time. worthless
Cons
it must be able to access it's site in order to work, well, it must not have a good site, because it almost never works for me!!!
Summary
i paid $121 for something i now need to go to a free site for. when i paste some russian words in, it gives me russian words instead of english........i got ripped off. i just use a free site to do translation now. i wasted my money on this software.

Version: Babylon 6
Pros
full functions!
Cons
integratable of combination with brower!

"Somewhat bloated..."
Version: Babylon 6
Cons
This version of Babylon seems somewhat slower and more bloated. I'm using Flexdict as an alternative, since it is faster, more lightweight, and also costs a third of the price...

"Very useful"
Version: Babylon 6
Pros
Great program, I use it a lot. Previously I used different widgets that suppose to do the same, but never found something as fast and good as Babylon. I'm still in the trial period, but they surely have a new customer.
Cons
Translation of sentences across languages is not the strongest point of Babylon.

"Highly superior to previous releases"
Version: Babylon 6
Pros
What impress me most is the inmediate meaning of the word when the mouse is put over that word, without clicking it
Cons
I wonder if it is posible to use Babylon free after 30 days, even in a more limited version
