"Simple ,effective and instant ."
Version: BEIKS Japanese/English/Japanese Dictionary for Palm OS 6.0
Summary
For a first time user of an e dictionary that too Japanese to English , it was a good experience. I am a Japanese language student (gakusee) . I am using a book dictionary .However it was not convinient to carry the dictionary . So when I came across this dictionary suitable for Palm Mobile/device, I found it effective. However it takes some time to search on my Palm Treo . And it does not have kanjis and Japanese script, which one will need when one upgrades. But the convinience is great. It is good tool for a Japanese language learner.

"too inaccurate to be useful"
Version: BEIKS Japanese/English/Japanese Dictionary for Palm OS 6.0
Summary
Interface is good, but definitions are too inaccurate to be useful. I asked my wife, who is a teacher and native Japanese speaker, to review the database. Some definitions are right on target but others are wildly off base. Japanese-English doesn't seem quite as bad as English-Japanese. The problem is that non-natives won't know how to tell the difference between accurate definitions and inaccurate ones.

"Where Has All the Grammer Gone? = ("
Version: BEIKS Japanese/English/Japanese Dictionary for Palm OS 6.0
Summary
There are multiple Japanese entries in this dictionary for every English equivalent--which is a good thing, the subtle variations of a word are very important. There needs to be information about parts of speech, however--which words are actually phrases, which are nouns, which are adjectives, etc. Because the entire system is in Western Script (Romaji) and without spaces, it is very difficult to choose the correct variation of a word without possession of fluency that would surpass that of most Japanese natives! I'm very edgy to pull my support of Beiks and move on without them--if there isn't an update with grammatical cataloging, a la Meriam-Webster or the Oxford Dictionary, soon.
