This free encryption utility earns points for its ease of use, security, and speed. Although BCArchive's spartan interface makes it pretty clear how to create secure archives, many users may prefer to encrypt files via the right-click menu. Similar to most quality programs of this type, BCArchive can create self-decrypting files, so your recipients won't have to bother with installing the program themselves. All other users will need your password if they want to access your sensitive documents. It's nice that the application supports multiple secure algorithms, including Triple DES, Blowfish, and Rijndael. However, unlike many of the top applications in this class, BCArchive lacks a file shredder for destroying data. Still, on most other fronts, this encryption tool makes a strong case for itself.Publisher's description
From Jetico :With BCArchive you can encrypt a group of files or folders and compress them to an encrypted archive (a single file). You can create a self-extracted program containing encrypted archives and e-mail it to a friend, who will receive the archive and be able to read your files, either by using the correct password or public or secret key technology. All public and secret keys that already have been generated and used in other programs can be used in BCArchive. BCArchive uses strong symmetric-encryption algorithms, such as Blowfish, IDEA, Triple DES, and CAST5; secure hash algorithms such as SHA-1, MD5, and RIPEMD-160; and asymmetric (public/secret-key) algorithms such as RSA and ELGamal/Diffie-Hellman. The program also conforms to specifications PKCS #5, PKCS #12, and X.509.

Version: BCArchive 3.07.3
Pros: This offers 448 bit blowfish encrytion. The government recommends about half that much so that in itself proves it encryption worthiness. It is also surprisingly easy to use for an encryption program.
Cons: Unencrypting multifiles can be a pain and once they are unencrypted you must find a way to shred them. Otherwise they can be resurrected with a file scavenger (program used to restore deleted files). Spybot Search and Destroy has a really nice file shredder that can be used to shred the unencrytped files.

"Best Free encryption software."
Pros: This is the best free encryption software I have found. It uses VERY powerful encryption algorithms, making it very secure. It also has the option of using public key encryption, which is very useful for sending information over the Internet. I also found it was very quick, even compared to some non-freeware software. This is a very good piece of software.
Cons: There are a few minor things that are not included, like securely deleting the original data. It would also be nice if it included integration into the file system, so you could negotiate BCAcives within windows, and not in the program.

"Don't Waste Your Time - Use TrueCrypt"
Pros: Provides Good Encryption. This program may be for you if you ONLY want basic encryption that's easy.
Cons: TrueCrypt (also free) integrates nicely with windows, and quite frankly is the best encryption freebie I have found. It also offers a hidden volume within your encrypted file for anyone who REALLY wants to secure their data.

"Excellent Encryption Software"
Pros: This encryption software has a user friendly appeal to it and uses advanced encryption algorithms to protect files. Not much more to be said. If you need encryption, this is an ideal method of doing it.
Cons: Minor bugs, nothing too signficant to note

Pros: I use this software in addition to my favorite security app WinGuard Pro (which allows me to password protect my programs and personal files/folders). This is a great additonal to my security collection
Cons: I just wish there was one tool that did it all!
