The authors of this tiny, free virus scanner deserve our praise. The list of definitions, although it's confined to about 50 viruses, nevertheless detects the most notorious infections such as Badtrans, Blaster, Bugbear, Ganda, Klez/Elkern, Nimda, Opas, Sircam, Sobig, and Yaha. Avast Virus Cleaner downloads as an executable program, which means you don't have to install it. It scans the memory and the entire hard drive. Although you can't choose specific files or folders to examine, Avast isn't memory-consuming and works quickly. Cons: highjacks your browser.

Pros: Detects most notorious viruses. System start up scan (before Windows starts).
Live protection.Cons: Used it on 3 different computers. 2 so far are trashed with real hazardous virus.
Waste of time to keep having to fix a PC. One of my PC's seem unfixable.Summary: Get PC Tools freeware or buy Norton or McAfee instead.

"Easy to use; quick (realatively), and very good!"
Pros: The ease of use, simplicity and the facts that it does find stuff all over!
