its better then norton... i had norton antivirus before this one and didnt even protect me from virusses... it only found them after they had entered my computer... the best protection is prevention, so i would go with avast, because it has all the active shields running that warn you BEFORE virusses are entering your computer and kill the virus immediately and after all it doesnt slow down your computer neither. I tried every antivirus program on download.com... but i was most satisfied with this one.

Pros
I don't know of another security company that updates their definitions on a daily basis. It simply works and keeps you safe. I have been using it for over 2 years now and have not had one infection even though I had an infection that Avast was able to find that my old software had allowed in. I have not ever had a problem with the program but have been told by friends that I reccomended it to that have and they have each and every one told me how impressed they were with the speed and helpfulness of support.
Cons
I haven't found anything to dislike about this first rate product.

Registration is free for one year (and free renewal each year), doesn't slow down your computer, high percentage of detection (better than Norton and McAfee), small firewall included, can catch trojan and even somes bigs spywares. HIGHTLY RECOMMENDED!!

the best thing about this is that it uses no resources - you don't notice that its running; which is a big pro with XP!

I will tell u a little story....i have a LAN with 10 pc.for last 1 month some worms attacked my LAN. generally i use Mcafee/Pccillin IS.but they were gone in avain.i have tried norton,avg,nod,kaspersky and lot more...all of them can delete the virus file but couldn't protect from affected.so i have to think something else to save my LAN.then i came here to find good AV+network shield then find Avast.I called it Avast Internet Security coz i have found everything in it...av,firewall,Im protection,script blocker and lots more...now i am totally protected from those maslan,netspy and other worms.....thanks to the avast team..........by the way....those who told that its resource hog, plz be honest to comment....i run avast 6.4 on a pc that has only 32 mb ram...
