CNET Editors' review
An A-list antivirus, Avast Internet Security 5 provides steadfast protection and a robust selection of features. This version is the paid upgrade from the better-known Avast Free, and so includes several features not available elsewhere.
Avast Internet Security protects you with multiple guards. The antivirus, antispyware, and heuristics engines form a security core that also includes multiple real-time shields. The adjustable mail and file system shields join the pre-existing behavior, network, instant messaging, peer-to-peer (P2P), script, and Web shields. The behavioral shield is a common-sense feature, as security software publishers leverage their large user bases to detect threats early and warn others. Other new features include a silent/gaming mode, a testing sandbox, a firewall, antispam measures, and an "intelligent scanner" that only looks at changed files after establishing a baseline. Users should note that Avast Internet Security is the higher-end version of Avast's two paid programs. Avast Professional 5 includes the sandbox and script shield, but not the firewall or antispam features.
The biggest change in Avast 5, though, is the interface. Gone is the music player default look, which was skinnable but confusing, and in its place is a sleek UI that new users should find far more manageable. It's also Aero-friendly, with Explorer-style navigation buttons in case you can't remember where you tweaked a particular setting.
Avast has been reliably effective, and recent independent efficacy tests indicate that it can hold its own against Symantec's Norton and other popular brands. The price of this version is comparable to those, too, albeit slightly cheaper in some cases. If you want the extra protection offered here and value the brand name, Avast Internet Security 5 is worth the cost.
Publisher's Description
From ALWIL Software:
Avast Internet Security includes antivirus engine, anti-rootkit protection, anti-spyware protection, script shield, process virtualization, command line scanner, anti-spam filter, and built-in firewall. Avast Internet security includes all the features of the free Avast anti virus and Firewall, and antispam. Once installed, avast runs silently in the background to protect your computer against all known forms of malware with a real time virus protection. Avast Internet Security also fully integrated antispam filter to detect unwanted email.
Avast Internet Security provides complete computer security. It is designed for people that shop and bank via the internet or store sensitive data on their computers. Internet Security provides three new security features not in the Free Antivirus that work together to ensure that your banking, financial, and sensitive data is protected from hackers.
The Silent Firewall provides nearly automatic control of inbound and outbound traffic with a white list of over 50,000 applications, digital signatures from renowned vendors, and coordinated operation with avast protective shields. The new antispam filter makes keeping the spam out easy with its single control interface. It identifies more than 98 percent of spam with near-zero false positives. "Sandbox" process virtualization creates a virtual computer to test suspect files and insulate the real computer from any damage caused by active malware.

Cons
Scanning time s a bit on t higher side and t major reason y i gav 4 is becas of firewall, though i configured it aftr installin, everytime i log in its showin a firewall message and sayin new network detected and do u want 2 change firewall settings?
Summary
Though it has some flaws its great overall ! ! Tough competition for AVG, NORTON, ESSET, MSE and so....... Avast Internet Security will stand its ground victorious inspite of the tough competition ! !

"Nice and light,and FULL Protection!"
Version: Avast Internet Security 5.0.377
Pros
Very light, stays out of the way, and does what its suppose to. Glad to see Avast has come out with a security suite & a new interface! The firewall is laid back and dosent freak out every 5 minutes like some of these other firewalls. I trust Avast.
Cons
The reason i gave four stars is because, the speed of the virus scanner is a bit on the slow side compared to Avg, Avira, Norton, Bitdefender. Not really a big issue, just wanted to point it out.
Summary
Would highly recommend

"Awesome 5 out of 5"
Version: Avast Internet Security 5.0.377
Pros
Flawless Interface, over 2 million anti virus definition, 98 - 99% virus protection.
Nice statistical displays, 10 different shields anywhere from IM protection to P2P file sharing protection.
Really good on system performance.Cons
Could maybe have even more coverage then 99%.
Because that would put it over Norton Internet Security 2010.Summary
I had a really good experience using this product, the interface is flawless, the way you navigate through the different options is simple yet it still leaves lots of room for customization. It also seemed to find viruses the second I got one.
Overall I like it better then Norton 360,Webroot internet security essentials, McAfee.
