"How do I delete it?"
Version: Avast Free Antivirus 7.0
Pros
Nothing, absolutely nothing.
Cons
Soooo sloooow. It now takes my computer at least five seconds to load even the most basic webpages. Plus it won't uninstall. If I delete it, the icon is still in the icon menu and it runs in the background.
Summary
Don't download and please tell me how to rid myself of this horror.

"It has everything!"
Version: Avast Free Antivirus 7.0
Pros
Avast Free Antivirus for Mac has a very lot of features, and it updates both the software and the virus database very often, automatically! That is great, and then I can alway feel safe that my mac will be protected against the newest viruses as well. How well it actually detects viruses, I cannot know for sure of corse, but it seems very trustable. It scans all the webpages I open, my computer, my mail, and it is all for free! Totally great!
Cons
It might make the computer a tiny bit slower.
Summary
A very simple, yet powerful application. There is no reason not to protect your mac anymore.

"slow, sloww, slower, slowwwer, sloooooower"
Version: Avast Free Antivirus 7.0
Pros
It works great. Does exactly what it is supposed to do. Wonderful software. Beautiful interface.
Cons
I have an iMac Quad Core i5 2.4 GHz with 16GB RAM, OS X 10.7.3. avast! so slowed the iMac that it rendered it effectively useless. 0.5 seconds became 5 minutes and that was just to open web email. Deleted.
Summary
Forget it.

"Nice antivirus but messed with Chrome"
Version: Avast Free Antivirus 7.0
Pros
Thorough scanning
Easy to install
Nice interface
Web extension worked well with Safari and actually got an "infected link" notice on one site.Cons
In my tests avast! made Chrome unbearable and actually froze several times. Even after I tried disabling the Web extension the Chrome performance was horrid. Once I completely uninstalled avast! Chrome went back to normal.
Summary
I liked avast! but I like Chrome more. The loss of functionality with Chrome was a deal breaker.
I'd like to see an update that would fix the problem with Chrome. Once there is I'll give it another try.
