Use AvantGo to synchronize specially designed mobile Web sites to your handheld using a desktop or wireless Internet connection. Get news, sports, stocks, movie listings from the world's top brands. Even designate your own favorite Web sites (workout schedules, family Web sites) or RSS feeds to synchronize to your handheld. Version 6.0.3 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Like an offline browser for your mobile device, AvantGo grabs Web content from user-selected sites and puts it on your Pocket PC. To start using the application, you'll need to sign up for an account at AvantGo's Web site and answer some questions. From there, you can choose which feeds you'd like to add; the program takes content from sites such as The Washington Post, Reuters, and The Sporting News. You also can add more sites later, directly from your handheld. Once you sync your device with your PC, all the latest headlines and stories will be delivered to your handheld.

The stories are logically categorized on your Pocket PC according to their sources, making them easy to find. The program is technically free, but in exchange for this, you'll have to deal with a number of rather large ads in the main window. Nevertheless, AvantGo is a good tool for air travelers or other similar folk who want to stay up-to-date while on the move.

  "Great, Free, News for your PDA"

  Pros: Great way to get news on your PDA, when you don't have a wireless connection. And, you can't beat the price!

  This is one of the last versions of this software that allows automatic syncing - v6.2 requires you to manually sync from your PDA (not so user-friendly).

  "Useful free program"

  Pros: Every morning after synchronizing my ppc I have latest news on my ppc. AvantGo is handy to manage channels and completely free. I think it's great.

  Cons: One thing that makes me give 4 stars to this program is scrolling. It scrolls only on one line, that???s a little annoying.

  "Excellent site,gets it all right"

  Pros: Very good...it gets all web sites to my pocket pc quickly and in order

  Cons: none at all

  Summary: very good and very stable...I love it.
